We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Samaar Siddiqui a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Samaar , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
In the world of entertainment, my distinct background becomes a creative asset. I use my unique experiences to bring authenticity to storytelling, connecting with diverse audiences and contributing to a richer, more inclusive narrative in the industry.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I navigate the intersection of fame and business, weaving connections and opportunities for corporations and celebrities alike. With a proven track record, I’ve collaborated with major names in both business and music industries, facilitating the expansion and development of their portfolios on a global scale. Serving as a crucial point of contact for influential figures, I specialize in crafting strategic alliances that propel brands to new heights, both stateside and overseas. My work transcends boundaries, creating a bridge between industries and fostering growth for those seeking a dynamic edge in today’s competitive landscape.
I’m currently immersed in many thrilling ventures in the industrial world as well as the music industry. As someone who loves creating new partnerships, I’ve been forging a business relationship with none other than SpaceX, serving as a trusted vendor for their metal supply needs. The excitement of contributing to the future of space exploration is unparalleled.
But the adventure doesn’t end there. Collaborating with Hiro Oshima, the manager for the globally renowned artist Akon, has been a journey into the dynamic realm of entertainment. Together, we’re involved in diverse projects, from strategic investments into studios in Miami to groundbreaking partnerships associated with Akon’s visionary city “Akon City”.
These few ventures of the many I have my hands in not only define my professional landscape but also reflect a commitment to the innovation I have planned for my self and the future.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, dedication has been the cornerstone of my success. Despite facing setbacks, the unwavering commitment to my goals kept me pushing forward. Another crucial skill has been the art of starting conversations. Building connections by engaging with people in important rooms opened doors I couldn’t have imagined. In the beginning stages of my career i offered my services for free to influential individuals which built trust and positioned me as the go-to person when they needed assistance. Patience, the third key quality, acted as a silent force, unlocking new levels of growth. My advice to those starting their journey: Create a Mission, dedicate your self to your mission and do not quit, master the art of patience, if you don’t get what you want, know your time will come and when it does you will be ready. Last but not least don’t ever be scared to speak up, If you have a question ask it. a closed mouth never gets fed. These qualities form a powerful trio that can propel you further and faster toward your aspirations.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
The 48 Laws of Power” has been a guiding force in my development. All 48 Laws have strong messages but here are the ones that paved the road to my journey. Law 1, “Never Outshine the Master,” taught me the delicate balance of asserting myself while respecting authority, ensuring I shine without overshadowing those in power unless I am in a room or an area where I feel my knowledge is stronger then I wait until it is the right time to speak. Law 6, “Court Attention at All Costs,” emphasizes the importance of positioning oneself strategically in the eyes of powerful individuals. Additionally, Law 33, “Discover Each Man’s Thumbscrew,” emphasized the value of understanding individuals on a personal level to leverage their motivations. These laws have not only shaped my understanding of power dynamics but have provided valuable insights into building and navigating relationships in the realm of influence and authority.
