Meet Samantha Bell

We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Bell recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism is something I was born with. From the time I was a child, I always had an over excited view of what the world is and what it could be. As I grew up, my parents tried to warn me by saying “You can’t live in a Barney world.”

I knew what they meant, but I also didn’t get it. How could you not live with an optimistic the perspective of the world with how beautiful all of its details are?

As a kid, I think that was my gift – To notice the spaces in between. The work ethic and strength of an ant, even though it could sting you. The features of people that make them great, despite their wrong-doing. The details in artwork that’s interesting, even though the entire piece doesn’t make sense or resonate.

This has been my greatest gift, and my greatest downfall. I’ve lived life not feeling as optimistic as I did when I was a child. It was a very confusing time because I got hurt from wearing my heart on my sleeve. But after finding optimism again, fighting for it, healing for it and reaching for it – it’s now a strength of mine to know that seeing the light in the darkness isn’t always naive. It’s a powerful gift of discernment and wisdom that allows me to amplify the greatness around me, everywhere I go.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I help female entrepreneurs, creatives and leaders bring health into their lives so they can achieve their greatest dreams and grow their business in a way that feels good for them.

This a unique take because my core is to make sure women are healthy, strong and implementing strategies to take care of their bodies. The intention is to do it so they can enhance the way they lead themselves through all the ebbs and flows of running a successful and unique business.

I started off working of with highly affluent CEO’s, lawyers and doctors early on in my career and they all had one thing in common. They were wildly successful in their industry but could not seem to get a hold of their self control or focus when it came to their bodies. I developed the plan for them and became their accountability point. Every day they would show up and decide who they wanted to be – the woman that showed up, the person that complained, the client who did their homework, the one who let themselves get pushed past their limit.

Every day was different, but every day was intentional and what I realized was that when they let themselves show up and be challenged, they weren’t just there changing their physique – they were there changing their character.

I see exercise as a teacher. In order to get the results, you can’t be the same person that found it hard to start. You have to find another version of you deep inside that wants more, that loves your greatness, that understands your value.

It’s not about pushing. It’s about letting the transformation happen without fighting it. Learning every lesson that comes your way and being willing to show up no matter what results you get because at the very end of it, your body becomes a representation for the change that you’ve made on the inside.

My brand Active & Attractive is for women ready to not just be physically active, but for those who want to actively do the inner work, so their they become energetically attractive through the way they feel about themselves and how they now see the world.

My clients lose weight, get stronger and finally find a healthy relationship with exercise and food – but they also make more money, get the promotion, create more artistically and feel so cracked open that opportunities fall in their lap that they say never would have come to them if they hadn’t taken care of themselves first. It’s quite magical!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The inner work journey was huge for me. I had a hard time in life knowing if what I was choosing was for me or for others. I had a hard time describing what I liked, what I didn’t like – I grew up as a people-pleaser and over performer that I was more clear on what other people needed than what I needed for myself. I was burnt out, exhausted, resentful and hurt. Creating space in my life to make room to discover me helped me learn about myself as an adult and I was able to put boundaries and standards up for myself that I was able to follow and then share with other people so they could honor what I needed or choose to fall away.

The other areas that helped me was understanding the dynamic balance between the masculine and feminine energies. This helped me let go the beliefs of needing to do everything myself, constantly taking action and always hustling when I feared things weren’t working. It taught me how to have interdependent relationships with people based on those principles and also allowed me to love rest, health and patience.

The final skill I’d say I value was learning that as a leader, coach and teacher, it’s so important for me to follow my own work. The processes, advice, wisdom and knowledge I share is not just for other people – it’s for me too! If I’m teaching it, I deserve the benefits, but also to help me cure imposter syndrome and accelerate my business – breathing my work and embodying it as if I was my best student has complete transformed how I feel as a person and as a leader.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

I know this in my mind, but in practice it feels so different in my body –

Believing that the feeling of “not knowing” is me getting closer to what I want.

I spent most of my life chasing what I want that I’ve seen countless times where I’ve run out of options and didn’t have any choice but to surrender. When I did that, magic moments would happen – random money would appear, a friend would have a solution I needed, someone would refer me or a new client would show up! Each time a miracle has happened, it’s always been at a breaking moment in my life. I’m working on stepping into surrender intentionally so I don’t have to break in order to have massive breakthrough! It’s been quite the challenge, but I can see little moments of wonder in myself that miracles are available every single day!
