We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Samantha Coffin a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha, so great to be with you and I think a lot of folks are going to benefit from hearing your story and lessons and wisdom. Imposter Syndrome is something that we know how words to describe, but it’s something that has held people back forever and so we’re really interested to hear about your story and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Imposter Syndrome hasn’t been something I have necessarily overcome, however I have found ways to conquer it. Remembering my why, the deep why behind Matcha Nude’s existence and the story that led me here reminds me that this work is important and I am the person that is meant to do it. Matcha completely changed my life, it elevated my experience with wellness in my body and helped with many frustrating challenges I was facing. I want to not only show people the power of this ancient superfood, but also make it accessible + easy to use!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Matcha Nude is an intentional small business offering ethically sourced, sustainably packaged, delicious and affordable organic matcha. We inspire our community to elevate their lives with fun + easy matcha recipes, tips and lifestyle tips. We believe in collaborating, educating and growing with our community of matcha lovers. We are a space for the matcha curious too, showing them how easy it can be to enjoy matcha daily.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Being able to ask for help: You don’t know what you don’t know until you don’t know it. I had never owned a product based business and there are new things every week that I get to conquer. But, I don’t have to continuously recreated the wheel. I can ask for help, get advice and support from those with more experience.
2. Eager to build community: Surrounding myself with other entrepreneurs with a big vision has catapulted Matcha Nude to where it is today. They have inspired us, lifted us up and giving me some incredible advise and support. We also started with collaborations from Day 1, because we believe we can all rise together!
3. It’s not failing if you learn from it: Mindset is key. You are going to mess up and mistakes will happen. The difference is what you do with it. Are you going to take notes and pivot? Are you going to throw your hands up and give up? How we react to the hard moments is everything. This journey is hard, but you wouldn’t have had this dream if it wasn’t possible for you to achieve it.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I have had many moments of overwhelm and here are the 2 things that have had the biggest impact.
1. Take a few minutes every morning before picking up your phone or checking your email and write down the three top things you want to do that day. Then spend 30 minutes getting started. This has increased my productivity 10-fold and helped me get the overwhelming things off my chest.
2. Remember, rest is productive. If we want to shoot our arrow as far as we possibly can, we need to be able to pull back on the bow. We pull back on the bow by resting. If we don’t rest enough, the arrow wont fly nearly as far. Rest is not just important, it is vital for your productivity, creativity and longevity.
