We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Gutowski recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose was always lingering in the back of my mind starting around age 22. I went on my first long international trip, and it completely changed the way I looked at everything. I saw how big the world really was, and while I realized I might play only a small part in the grand scheme of 8 billion people, I knew I wanted my time on this earth to mean something to me.
I always knew I wanted to help people—I just didn’t know in what capacity. When I was younger, I thought that meant becoming a doctor. Later, that vision shifted to being a teacher, then a travel writer helping people plan their big once in a lifetime trips. That travel writing role eventually led me to a yoga and meditation retreat called Suan Sati in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
To make a verrrrrry long story short, it was there that I learned about mindfulness in depth for the very first time, and it hit me like a train. I may not have realized in that exact moment that mindfulness would become my purpose, but I knew it was going to change my life. And it sure did. A year later, I was getting certified to become a mindfulness coach because I had experienced firsthand how transformative it could be.
As I began moving through the world with presence, I realized that purpose doesn’t have to be complicated or perfectly mapped out, it’s about finding what lights you up and sharing that light with others. For me, that light is mindfulness: helping people slow down, breathe deeper, and live their lives with more clarity, compassion, and joy. In a world that often feels rushed and overwhelming, mindfulness allows me to navigate life with steadiness and intention, instead of being swept away by it.
Finding my purpose has been a true gift. Now, I get to guide others back to themselves through mindfulness, helping them reconnect with what matters, find peace in the midst of chaos, and move through life with presence, clarity, and rhythm.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Sam, a Mindfulness Coach and the Founder of Be Here Now Baby. What I love most about what I do is helping people create more presence in their everyday lives. Presence might sound simple, but it’s soooo powerful. It allows you to pause, notice what’s really happening, and build the space to make choices from a place of clarity. Through mindfulness, people can cultivate self-love, build confidence, strengthen their inner guidance, and show up more fully for themselves and others.
My work is primarily focused through four avenues:
1:1 Clients
The heart of my work is with 1:1 clients. Together, we explore how mindfulness can reduce stress, build confidence, and create more intentionality in daily life. It’s about helping each person step into their fullest potential while honoring their unique journey.
Mindfulness in the Workplace
I also work with organizations to bring mindfulness into the workplace. Whether it’s supporting leaders in navigating challenges or helping teams collaborate with more clarity and presence, this work creates space for focus, meaningful growth, and healthier workplace dynamics.
Women’s Circles
I host local women’s circles, where we gather to explore mindfulness, connection, and personal growth in a supportive environment. These circles offer a safe space to slow down, reflect, and be held by a community of like-minded women.
Digital Course – Authentically You
For those looking for guidance on their own, I created my digital course, Authentically You, which helps individuals cultivate self-love, build confidence, and create more presence in their everyday lives. It’s a practical, accessible way to bring mindfulness into life at your own pace.
Everything I offer, whether 1:1, in a workplace, a women’s circle, or online, is rooted in the belief that presence opens the door to confidence, self-love, and the courage to live authentically.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that were most impactful in my journey are consistency, believing in myself, and maintaining a beginner’s mindset.
Consistency allowed me to build momentum and make meaningful progress over time. It wasn’t about being perfect every day, but showing up regularly and trusting that small, steady actions add up. My advice for anyone early in their journey is to focus on creating simple routines and habits you can sustain. Progress compounds when you show up, even in small ways.
Believing in myself was essential, especially when I didn’t yet have all the answers or experience. Early on, self-doubt can be so loud, and it’s easy to feel discouraged when things get hard. I learned that I had to trust my instincts and decisions, and keep moving forward even when it felt difficult. My advice: practice affirmations, surround yourself with supportive people (I’m so grateful to my husband, family, and friends), and take action even when you feel uncertain. It’s through showing up and doing the work that confidence truly grows.
Lastly, a beginner’s mindset kept me open to learning and growth. I stayed curious, willing to try new things, and comfortable with not knowing everything. When you follow people who inspire you, it’s easy to forget they were beginners once too—so don’t get stuck comparing yourself or expecting to have it all figured out. Approach every experience as an opportunity to learn, ask questions, stay humble, and embrace the journey rather than rushing to the destination. I love the reminder to “Never rush anything you want to last forever.”
And I do have to add one more thing. While it may not be a skill or quality, I consider it deep knowledge. A mentor shared with me at the very beginning of my journey the importance of setting boundaries around what I needed in my business. I took that guidance and built it into what I now call work-life rhythm—not waiting for “someday” when I felt I had earned or deserved it. Embracing this early allowed me to not only practice what I preach, but also build a sustainable, joyful career while staying grounded, present, and connected to what truly matters.
I love the focus on rhythm versus balance because balance can feel like a constant tug-of-war, as if you’re trying to perfectly even out work and life. Rhythm, for me, is about flow—it’s adaptable, sustainable, and honors the natural ebbs and flows of life and work. I think this is gold for anyone just starting out on their journey.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I bring it back to the basics. We often overcomplicate things in life, and self-care is no exception. We’re so used to go-go-go that we forget the best medicines are simple: good nutrition, sunshine, sleep, and movement. I also like to add conscious breathing.
So when I’m feeling overwhelmed, I ask myself: How have I been sleeping lately? When was the last time I truly took a deep breath? When’s the last time I moved my body, or am I nourishing it well? These questions help me slow down, reset, and refocus. The key is to honor the basics first—because when they’re in place, everything else becomes more manageable.
I also find that water is extremely healing for me. If the basics aren’t doing the trick, I seek out a stream or run and jump into Lake Michigan. There’s something about immersing myself in water that washes away stress and leaves me feeling lighter, grounded, and more connected to the present moment.
