We were lucky to catch up with Samantha-Jane Gray recently and have shared our conversation below.
Samantha-Jane, we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
LENI is a homage to all the practices that I feel have made the deepest impact on myself and my clients throughout the years. My personal routine can vary from anything to lighting incense, breathing deeply, gentle restorative movement, placing a heated pillow around my neck while working , or even lifting some heavy weights. It’s all about how I am feeling in the moment, and what is needed to create balance once again. With this daily check-in, I feel I am able to sustain myself without burnout.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
After being in the boutique wellness industry for 17 years, the number of things I’ve learned that support the body in health, is countless. Needless to say, at times, I feel overwhelmed when there are so many things I feel like I should be doing, and somehow, even as movement professional, can’t seem to do it all.
LENI was created out of my own need to consolidate natural , effective routines and practices, that have powerful results and are easily integrated into daily life. I firmly believe that just a few tweaks to our daily routines can make an exponential impact in our well-being.
We are building our offering:
● THE. TOOLS – the items that support us
● THE PRACTICE- learning the methods of self-care
● THE PROGRAM- building your routine

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
1) Patience. When starting something new, there is so much to learn. Trust that you will evolve in the process.
2) Nurture the vision. As you go deeper into your quest, keep taking steps forward, but also allow for shifts as you come across new ideas and capabilities.
3) Lean on the professionals. It is important for us to have an understanding of how it all works together, but experts in their fields have a lot to offer and often improve on your idea in ways that you cannot foresee.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
Ironically, creating this concept, as someone new to commerce, can often times feel overwhelming in all the new challenges we face on a daily basis. When this happens, I feel fortunate that I have these tools and practices to draw from. I have ways to restore my body, reset my mind and come back to balance, where all the healthiest decisions for myself and our vision can be made. Our strategy with LENI has been to give ourselves grace wherever we can,. With regard to scheduling, product development, budgeting, choosing great collaborative partners, we aim to move forward with care, and grow organically in a way that feels natural.
