We were lucky to catch up with Samantha Ward recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Samantha, so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I practice self care daily in different ways. Some constant ways are by exercise, recovery and food choices. I exercise daily and this could look like strength training, cycling, Pilates or simply, walking. Moving my body helps my mind, increases my strength and honors God every time. Some days I enjoy a warm bath to relax or a cold bath to recover my muscles. I enjoy face masks, foam rolling and massages as well. Food is always a conscious choice. I eat foods that fuel my body and taste good in their most natural state and focus on getting protein and fiber intake, daily.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a creator. I’ve had an amazing career in fashion design which focused on embellishment design. I have always enjoyed making people feel amazing and becoming the best version of themselves. Through years of discovery and my own health journey, I focused on healthy eating. I soon after began baking vegan & gluten-free desserts which focuses on healthy, low-glycemic ingredients as well as an allergen free ingredient line. We bake tropical, unique flavors with options for all. We just launched a new website and have several pick- up locations for the Atlanta metro area. We continue to ship nationwide.
Along with our new website we launched our Blog and YouTube channel which features informational videos on food sensitivities and sugar consumption. We are passionate about living a healthy lifestyle and health starts with what you eat and a healthy digestive system.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I am one of six children so coming from a large family I learned very well how to work with different personalities and empathize. This helped me early on because I have always cared about how people felt and their reactions to life. This directly relates to food and the body. The way we think about ourselves reflects the food we consume. The best advice I can give those early on in their journey is to be kind and honest with yourself. If you have a goal, try to figure out why you are not reaching it. Are you getting in your own way for some reason? What strengths do you have that can help crush this goal and reach the next one. We have to ask ourselves the right questions to invoke our inner strengths and excel to that next level of achievement.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
The number one obstacle I’m facing is awareness. There are so many people with food sensitivities and health or weight issues that need to be educated on how food choices can impact their well being. In a world where sugar and highly processed food is prominent, my products can seem niche. It takes discipline and self awareness to change the way you eat and to live a healthy lifestyle. I enjoy speaking to people about their diets and how the foods they eat make them feel. Most people know they need to change something but don’t know how to begin. The first thing I suggest is to focus on digestive health, so eliminating gluten, dairy and processed sugar is a great way to start.
