Meet Samatha Herard

We were lucky to catch up with Samatha Herard recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Samatha , thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

Imposter syndrome is something many of us experience, and it often shows up as self-doubt and a lingering question of whether we truly deserve our successes. For me, it also connects to a fear of failure, especially since I was raised with high standards. Coming from a family of immigrant grandparents and teenage parents who worked hard to overcome poverty, I was taught to be resilient and believe that I could shape my future through my actions.

I remember as early as 3rd or 4th grade, pushing myself to improve when I received feedback. If someone pointed out that I needed to work on my reading, I took it seriously and put in the effort to be recognized, knowing even then that my growth depended on me. This mindset has stayed with me through life and business—I surround myself with people who are where I aspire to be, seek mentorship, and welcome feedback from those who share my values and work ethic.

God also reminds me of who I am, keeping me grounded in my purpose, so I’m not swayed by the opinions of others. Although imposter syndrome may bring doubt and fear, it’s my willingness to learn, humility, and faith that keep me moving forward. With affirmations, trusted mentors, and God’s guidance, I embrace my journey, continually reaching for my potential and learning from those around me.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

As the owner of The Glow Clinic, a detox and wellness center, I specialize in detox treatments, massage therapy, and post-op care. As a massage therapist, I have the rewarding opportunity to help clients relax, de-stress, and recover. As a detox specialist, I work with clients to reduce bloating and inflammation, helping them feel more confident and in tune with their bodies.

What excites me most is guiding people toward their health goals and empowering them to reach their fullest potential. My background as a substance abuse counselor opened my eyes to how often society relies on self-medication and how our healthcare system can over-rely on medication. This inspired me to create a space focused on holistic wellness for the body, mind, and spirit. Currently, I’m a grad student on the path to becoming a licensed mental health therapist, and I run a nonprofit called Profit for Purpose.

My nonprofit is my “baby,” and I’m committed to growing it each year. Through it, I aim to support individuals facing significant challenges, from those recovering from sexual or domestic abuse to those undergoing the toll of chemotherapy. My goal is to bring impactful support through positive touch and human services.

This year, I’m thrilled to launch more life coaching services and to expand my mentorship to fellow women entrepreneurs. I’m also excited about our new facility at 12227 Huebner Rd, Suite 106, in San Antonio, TX, and I’m actively looking to partner with other massage and mental health therapists to bring this vision to life. Together, I hope we can create a space of holistic healing, support, and transformation for our community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Reflecting on my journey, I’d say three qualities and skills have truly shaped where I am today:

Faith and Vision: First and foremost, I’ve learned that if God has given you a vision, you don’t have to worry about who doesn’t support you or whether they see what you see. Trusting that He will guide you through each step has been key for me, even when others didn’t understand my goals. For anyone starting out, my advice is this: don’t let the lack of others’ support or understanding discourage you. Focus on your calling, and trust that God will bring the right people and opportunities into your path.
Legacy and Priorities: Being a successful entrepreneur is empowering, but I’ve realized that a true legacy, especially for women, is measured in how our families and children remember us. It’s about the lives we impact and the values we pass on. So, no matter how ambitious your goals are, remember to make time for what matters. Early in your journey, I recommend finding balance and creating intentional moments with loved ones, because success is as much about who you’re becoming as what you’re achieving.
Consistency and Preparation: Finally, I’ve come to understand that bringing the same energy to small events as I would to larger ones builds character and consistency. Authenticity and consistency pay off in the long run. For those starting out, this means preparing now for what you’re working toward so you’re ready when opportunity knocks. Showing up consistently, even in the “small” moments, builds a foundation that will sustain your growth as things scale up.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

I would love to collaborate with surgeons, healthcare facilities, therapists, and women-owned businesses to create a supportive, comprehensive resource network for clients. My goal is to offer a well-rounded approach to wellness and post-care that enhances the client’s journey, whether they’re recovering from surgery, seeking mental health support, or focused on holistic well-being. Partnering with professionals in these areas will allow us to provide quality care from multiple perspectives, connecting clients with trusted resources that contribute to their physical, mental, and emotional health.

Additionally, I’m especially passionate about supporting women-owned businesses to create a network that uplifts and empowers women in our community. Working together, we can amplify each other’s expertise and create a stronger, more accessible support system for clients and businesses alike.
