We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Samhita. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Samhita below.
Samhita, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I seek new experiences when I am bored – new music, reading articles on ancient wisdom, writing poetry, talking to a stranger, or watching something mindbending: a movie based on quantum physics, or classified content on extraterrestral intelligences, UFO sightings, and so on. This kind of engagement automatically generates a whirlwind of thoughts to build on, and creative ideas. I get the adrenaline rush, and I am in awe of the infinite wonders that exist. While I’m engaged in such a manner, I let my mind wander for a few hours, while writing all the important insights in my notebook. Afterwards, I exchange notes with friends and mentors, which eventually leads to deeper work and learning.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am primarily a doctoral researcher in Psychology, working on my dissertation at the moment (which is definitely not cakewalk, if you know what I mean). One fine day in 2020, I founded Transpersonal Frontiers (TF). Since then, TF has its presence in several countries across the globe. Currently I am running a few projects on content creation, writing, conducting experiments, and doing minor collaborations with renowned experts. TF is a space where clients and learners get to expand their mind, discover new truths about themselves, and show up more authentically in their lives. TF is rooted in Transpersonal Psychology. Also referred to as Spiritual Psychology, it is the subfield of Psychology that studies states of consciousness that transcend the ego, personal identity, and self, by using the framework of modern psychology. TF is a space that highlights the vast as well as diverse spectrum of the human experience, including aspects such as raw authenticity, unfiltered conversations, and transcendental experiences. You can access some fascinating stuff through the TF podcast, TF Substack, and TF YouTube channel.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
If I could pick three things, they’d be
1. Believe in everyday miracles. By everyday miracles, I mean anything positive that occurs that science cannot fully explain yet. Today might be the day that you get an unexpected call from a childhood friend offering you your dream job. Today you might win the lottery. Today your smile might light up somebody’s day. Today you might fall in love with the person that you’d eventually spend your life with.
2. Prioritize your Thinking Quotient. Think deeply about what you want to do and why you want to do it. Then devise a plan and keep your mind open to refining it as you stroll in the garden of life. Think about thinking itself! Where do thoughts come from? What is the power of positive thinking? Enhance your Thinking Quotient by reflecting on the nature of the human mind, life, existence, and the unsolved mysteries of the universe.
3. Do something you usually wouldn’t do. For instance, buy a dress or shoes of a colour that you don’t like. Wear them, observe and stay with the feelings of discomfort that emerge. By choosing to experience a little bit of discomfort regularly, your resilience will increase. Eventually you’ll realise that you are limitless.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
Blunt as it may be, I became a pro at procrastination for a year. So, I started reading and researching the topic for months, exploring plausible solutions or techniques to become a successful Anti-Procrastinator. By choosing to tackle procrastination head-on, I learnt one important thing: you most probably cannot tackle it head-on! 🙃🙂
It’s complex as a psychological phenomenon, especially if you have not been able to achieve some goals with preset timelines.
Anyhow, I presented papers at international conferences, postulating innovative solutions to overcome procrastination. I completed courses on the topic, and read several articles. Having said that, you will need to figure it out on your own, because every procrastinator faces unique challenges.
As it stands, one way to beat it is to just do the work, irrespective of how you are feeling and how overwhelming the task is. “Do it now. Think later!” is a useful slogan I reckon.
Break free from the loop of procrastination by doing the work every day. It kind of boils down to habit, consistently taking tiny steps in the right direction, and believing in yourself. 💕
If you are struggling with procrastination, don’t be hard on yourself. Because, as the numbers suggest, it is unfortunately a global behaviour!
