Meet Samir ADHD” Akhter”

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Samir “ADHD” Akhter. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Samir “ADHD”, so happy to have you with us today. You are such a creative person, but have you ever head any sort of creativity block along the way? If so, can you talk to us about how you overcame or beat it?
We all need a break sometimes. I’m a big fan of playing video games or revisiting music genres I haven’t explored in a while when I need to refresh my brain. Lately, I’ve been vibing to disco and 80s pop – stuff I don’t normally listen to. It’s crazy how diving into something new can give you a fresh perspective and get the creative juices flowing.

And let’s be real, finding inspiration from the people around you every day can be a bit tough and repetitive. That’s when I turn to nostalgia. There’s just something about revisiting old memories and experiences that always brings a burst of motivation and creativity.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m a record producer who has achieved Billboard #1 charting success and is the owner of multiple recording studios in Los Angeles. This year, my endeavors have resulted in surpassing a billion streams, prompting me to redirect my efforts towards expanding the business. We recently opened up a studio in our own building and are now diversifying by signing additional producers, organizing more events, and facilitating producer and engineering masterclasses.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Staying positive and acknowledging that my current situation is just a phase in the journey has been essential. It keeps me grounded, especially in situations where I’m putting in effort without expecting immediate rewards. Building connections often means doing things without instant gratification, and if you’re always fixated on personal gains, it can impede success. Sometimes, extending a helping hand, especially to those unfamiliar with you, is a natural part of the process. In the business world, having a sharp awareness is crucial. It’s like having a behind-the-scenes pass, giving you insights into what’s truly happening and how decisions are unfolding.

We’ve all got limited resources, time, energy, focus etc – so if you had to choose between going all in on your strengths or working on areas where you aren’t as strong, what would you choose?
I always make a point to tackle my weaknesses first before diving into strengthening what I’m already good at. It’s a strategy that has served me well over time. When it comes to making music, it didn’t come naturally to me at first, but I took it on as a challenge and learned.

For me, it’s not just about chasing pure success; it’s about finding joy in what I do. While success is a goal, I firmly believe that following what truly makes me happy leads to a more fulfilling journey. And yes, success follows when you put your energy into refining your natural strengths.
