We recently connected with Sammie Cimarelli and have shared our conversation below.
Sammie, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I have been raised by an army of women. The second oldest of 6 sisters and 2 brothers, I have always wanted to set an example. Ever since I was little, I wanted to be the star of the show, and my family knew that. I was constantly being told “Sammie, dance for us! Sing for us!” My family always gave me the confidence to help me believe I could do anything in the world. I was never told something was too hard or intangible. As I’ve gotten older, that confidence has grown immensely. I’ve never set my mind to something, and failed in the end; of course I’ve failed plenty of times, but that’s the climb of it all. I’m saying when I’ve reached that final goal.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Moving to Miami with 2K in my bank account, I landed a great job that financially set me up for success. Shortly after I landed The Circle. Covid hit and I didn’t think anything else would ever happen for me. Four months later packed up and moved across the country from Miami to LA. Made a successful life for myself there and in the process graduated with a Masters Degree in ABA for Autism. Two and a half years later I gave birth to my first child and decided to buy a house back home in Pennsylvania, and have been here since February 2023.
Currently, my passion right now is my Mom Group that I’ve created. When becoming a new mom, I felt like I had no one to talk to, hangout with. None of my friends had babies at the time. I finally created my mom group and we have almost 300 women in the discord. We already had our first meet up and have our second one this Sunday August 6th.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities that were most impactful would be my self-awareness, communication and accountability. I have the self-awareness to know what I’m best at doing and took advantage of that by working in customer service, where I knew I could thrive. Communication and accountability go a long way in success. Accountability in checking yourself when you stray from the path you wish to be on. For example, when I first began making solid income in January of 2019, I could have went out and bought designer items or bought a fancy car. Instead, I saved that money and ultimately was able to move to LA with it. I knew I didn’t want to stay in Miami forever, I knew I wanted to explore other cities, but I also knew it wouldn’t be cheap. I moved to LA in July of 2020, so that year I held myself accountable and saved that money.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was allowing me to literally be ME. No matter how I wanted to dress, the music I loved, the way I danced or sang, the friends I had, the people I’ve dated; I have never ever been told to be or act in any other way than myself. And I say that’s impactful because I was always accepted by the people I love most. I was always welcomed with open arms by my unit, therefore, the outside world didn’t matter me. The closest people in my life love me as is, so why would I care about who doesn’t? That also played into my confidence and outgoing nature. I felt comfortable to be me which led to me making friends easily but also never second guessing to stand up for myself or what I believe in.
