Meet Samone Dowdy

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Samone Dowdy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Samone, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?

I discovered my purpose about 20 years ago after completing an in-depth study of the Bible. Through that process, I realized that my life’s purpose is to dedicate myself to serving the Creator who gave me every gift I have, and to help others in their times of need. Since then, I’ve worked hard to keep that focus at the center of my life. It hasn’t always been easy, but I’m deeply thankful for the direction it’s given me. This business was actually born from that same purpose — it allows me to contribute to something meaningful while also giving me more control over my life and how I use my time and talents to serve others.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

At Gleam DesignCo., we’re all about bringing people together through the joy of flowers. We’re known as Charlotte’s go-to for floral fun — hosting floral design experiences that are lively, engaging, and full of creativity. Our goal is to make every event memorable by blending art, community, and connection in a way that allows people to relax, laugh, and express themselves through beautiful blooms.

What makes Gleam DesignCo. special is the heart behind what we do. We don’t just arrange flowers — we create experiences that uplift, inspire, and remind people of the beauty in life and in each other. Every workshop or event is built around joy, purpose, and a genuine love for bringing people together.

This year, we’re thrilled to be expanding both our class and product offerings, adding even more ways for people to connect with floral design. And looking ahead to 2026, we’re especially excited to bring our popular Flower Bar Experience into more corporate spaces. It’s a wonderful way for teams to bond, celebrate, and add a little creative flair to their workplaces.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

For me, I’ve tried to live in the order of putting the God of the Bible first, others second and myself last. It hasn’t done me wrong yet, so I think I’ll keep proceeding in that order. My advice to others would be not to get up in the rabbit hole of comparing yoruself with others. Make the decisons that make the most sense for your business and keep moving forward from there. As long as you’re growing your business will be as well.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

They set the example of faith first and not being stuck in the past or afraid of change. Because of their example I have never felt confined by uncertainties or the unknown.
