Samuel, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
As someone who is pursuing creative work, it is definitely not an easy task to have a constant flow of creativity whenever you are presented with work and projects. Though, I personally believe that creativity itself is not something that you have to wait for the momentum to achieve something creative. I strongly believe with the fact that in order to get the creativity flowing, you have to push yourself to be creative by trying to do the job, regardless of how bad or good you might think the result may be. With this constant pushing of creating something is how one keeps their creativity going.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hi, my name is Samuel Gunawan and I go by Ryuzen as my artist name. I am currently working as a freelance musician & audio engineer where I do multiple works within the industry including musical composition, arrangement and productions, audio engineering such as mixing and mastering, while also continuing my craft as a piano/keyboard player. As a self publishing artist, Ryuzen was made as a way for me to express my love towards music, where I can be honest with myself on showing what type of music that heavily resonates with me and I would love to share it to the whole world. My main focus as an artist is to spread cheerful spirit and “Kawaii” aspect into my music since that is how I want everyone to view this world, with a happy and cheerful lens in life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Being punctual to me is very important, especially in this world where everyone is being chased by deadline. When you are submitting your work, it is very crucial to make sure that you are able to present your work when needed to. There are a lot of cases where someone is good at their job but have issues with trying to show their work on time. This can cause a huge issue down the line especially in big productions due to the tightness of the schedule, so it is important to make sure that you have a clear expectation on how well you can execute things on a certain schedule that you have.

Always communicate. Being honest and communicative is really important in any working field. There are times where you feel like you might need an extra time to do something, or there are some issues that you are having that is causing things to slow down, or you have some different opinions about something. It is always important to communicate with the other party and making sure that both parties can be satisfied at the end without any possibility of unsatisfied feeling. So be communicative while also maintain respect is really important.

Adaptive & Learn Fast. When doing work, sometimes you might encounter something that you may have never came across. But sometimes, you really have to adapt and learn things on the fly in order to get the job done. It is always important to keep on learning new things, even if you need to learn it while doing the job as well.
