Meet Sana Munjal

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sana Munjal. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Sana, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

When I was younger, I often struggled with my self esteem and confidence a lot, so much so that I wouldn’t even listen to myself sing because I thought it would be terrible. Growing up, I was always embarrassed by my music, but as time went on, I started to love what I do more. I genuinely started listening to myself and even my past singing and didn’t look at it as what I did wrong, but what I did good and how I could improve. This has made me more confident in that I know what I am doing and am doing my personal best all the time, so why would I be embarrassed about that. When thinking about myself, I learned to not only provide criticism, but also provide encouragement because thinking about yourself as a failure or not good enough will not make you better, but thinking of yourself as amazing and productive and worth it will. Prove yourself wrong.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I do anything related to music and film. I love music so much without it I wouldn’t’ t be whole. Both instruments and singing have given me purpose. Music also gives me the opportunity to dance which has taught me things about self confidence that I don’t think I could have learned otherwise. I currently post covers and dance and make videos on things that I find funny, mainly because I really enjoy it. I love film and music and hope to one day pursue them in whatever way I can whether it be in front of the mic and camera or behind it. I’ve started putting up my music on YouTube, Spotify and already post on Instagram. I am really proud of what I’ve done so far. I hope to create more original music, screenwriting and film making, music production as well as excel in my high school and college classes.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Piano had been such major influence in my life. Ever since I watched my preschool music teacher play the piano for my class, I have loved classical music. This love and knowledge has lead me to explore different areas of music and without having learned the piano, I may never have even become a musician to begin with and never have become the person I am today. Additionally, dance has really changed my perspective on music and life itself. While learning, it showed me how hard work and passion really can pay off and changed my view on my own self. As another quality, I believe that perseverance has been a major thing for me. In the sense that, just because it didn’t go perfect the first time doesn’t mean I should stop trying or doing something that I love and that idea or philosophy has really helped me through everything that I do.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

I don’t believe that I would have ever done music or anything that I do now without the support of my parents. Considering my parents didn’t have any knowledge of the area that I wanted to pursue or how to help, they still showed me unconditional support. My mom often talks about how she never really had other options for her when she was younger and those other options were often frowned upon. Regardless of this and where they came from, they still made sure that I could do what I wanted. The biggest thing they did for me was just showing up. They were happy that I was happy. The fact that they were always there gave me confidence and support I needed to do more.
