Meet Sanchari Halder

We recently connected with Sanchari Halder and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sanchari , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I have been painting since the age of 3. It was a hobby. All through the years I found children books very fascinating because of the illustrations. Gradually I started wishing if I could do the same one day and started working towards it. And here I am on my journey to be a children book illustrator.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a freelance Illustrator. I have been doing projects mainly for children book illustration. Other than that I have also been working with various brands for creating art for merchandise, social media campaign, website etc. I am also working for personal projects like wedding invitation designs etc. I most exciting part of this journey is the cute personal touches I can add to everyone’s world. Children book illustration really excites me. I try to make each page as much interesting for a kid as possible. I can almost feel how the kid will turn over a page and get excited about the illustration and the story. That is the best part – to lighten up a kid’s heart with joy!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The 3 most important things will be Practice, learning basics about drawing anything, trying out different mediums and new things. Practicing is the most important thing for any field. I believe if we want to grow in any area the only way is to practice with true dedication.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

The challenge I am facing today is TIME.
I have a full-time job and a 2 year old daughter. I am juggling everything and trying to fit in art somewhere everyday. I do not think there is a way to get away with this. This is a phase. I have to keep juggling till things settle down on its own with time.
