We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sandra Canizares. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sandra below.
Sandra, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?
God have blessed my family in so many ways! I feel the need and the call to give back. I love to be helpful in any way I can. I love to inspire people and to be there for them. And to be an example for my kids.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the founder and owner of SC Music Place. In the year of 2022 I founded this music academy following my dream of sharing the gift of music and spreading my Latin roots .
The purpose of SC Music Place is to unite community members through music. We want to enhance the lives of both children and adults by exposing them to the countless benefits associated with music and the arts. By creating an ongoing, multi-step learning experience, our goal is not only to help our students grow as musicians but to also help them become culturally appreciative citizens through exposure to musical instruments, singing and dancing.
We offer in-person group and individual lessons in English and Spanish that allow students to learn within their own skill levels. In addition, students are encouraged to participate in our once-per-semester recitals to showcase their progression.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I am a very hard worker, responsible and optimistic person. As a musician you develop a high sense of discipline and perseverance. Those skills are very important in the journey of opening a business and keeping it working.
In these past 3 years I have developed skills that I didn’t know I had in me. I have grown so much as an individual and keep learning every day.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
I started my music journey at the age of 7 studying classical piano in a Conservatory in Cuba.
My parents were my support throughout the years. I wanted to quit music so many times and they never let me do it. They always pushed me to be better and supported me every day.
That is the most precious thing my parents have done for me.
I owe them everything I am today and everything I have fulfilled in my life.
