Hi Sandra, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
My work ethic is deeply rooted in my background and values. I come from a family of immigrants who instilled in me the importance of hard work and perseverance from a young age. They faced numerous challenges but always emphasized the need to work hard and remain dedicated, no matter the circumstances. This upbringing shaped my drive to achieve a good and sustainable lifestyle.
Beyond that, I’m constantly striving to be the best version of myself. Whether it’s in my personal or professional life, I’m always pushing myself to improve, learn, and grow. This mindset keeps me motivated and focused on my goals, ensuring that I approach every task with dedication and a commitment to excellence.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’ve been a nail technician since 2018, and over the years, I’ve been able to build my own nail studio where I not only provide services but also train aspiring nail technicians. My passion for the industry extends beyond just providing services—I also sell nail products to help others achieve the same level of quality in their work.
I’m always focused on taking the next steps in my career. Right now, I’m planning to expand my business in the near future, as I’m committed to growing and evolving both professionally and within the industry.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I believe the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been self-discipline, time management, and self-care.
**Self-discipline** has been crucial in maintaining consistency and quality in my work. Whether it’s staying on top of the latest industry trends, perfecting techniques, or managing the day-to-day operations of my studio, discipline has kept me focused and motivated.
**Time management** is another key skill that has allowed me to juggle multiple responsibilities, from running my studio and training aspiring nail techs to selling products. Managing my time effectively has helped me meet deadlines, keep my clients happy, and ensure that I’m always moving forward in my career.
Finally, **self-care** has been essential in avoiding burnout. Working in a creative and demanding field can be exhausting, and it’s easy to lose track of your own well-being. Prioritizing self-care has allowed me to maintain my passion and energy, ensuring that I can continue to grow both personally and professionally.
For those early in their journey, I recommend focusing on these three areas. Cultivate self-discipline by setting clear goals and holding yourself accountable. Develop strong time management skills by organizing your tasks and sticking to a schedule. And most importantly, never neglect self-care—it’s vital for long-term success and sustainability in any career.
What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has undoubtedly been becoming a mother. This experience has pushed me to grow in tremendous ways very quickly. I’ve had to adapt and evolve into a new version of myself, balancing the demands of motherhood with my professional responsibilities. This journey has taught me a great deal about patience, resilience, and the importance of being adaptable in the face of new challenges. Becoming a mother has profoundly influenced not only my personal life but also the way I approach my work, making me more focused and determined than ever.
