We were lucky to catch up with Sandra Pacheco recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sandra, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
**Embracing a New Path: My Journey into Skincare**
I embarked on my skincare career at the age of 40, leaving behind the corporate world to start anew. It was a daunting decision to begin from scratch, but I embraced the challenge. My life has been marked by various obstacles, and I’ve learned to channel my resilience from an unlikely source—revenge.
Allow me to explain.
Whenever someone tells me I can’t achieve something, that I’m foolish to take a risk, or that my aspirations are unattainable, I use their doubt as fuel. I strive to prove them wrong—not just to succeed, but to excel beyond expectations.
A close family member once questioned, “Why would you want to do facials? Who’s going to pay you for that? You need a real job.” I’m grateful for those words, as they provided the motivation I needed to persist on my journey.
So, you see, I welcome challenges with open arms.
I’ve also been fortunate to cross paths with many inspiring women who have shaped me into the person I am today. Each of them has imparted a piece of their strength and resilience to me, which has contributed to my growth as both a human being and a business owner.
Fear—whether it’s fear of the unknown, fear of failure, or fear of not being enough—holds many people back from realizing their dreams. I, on the other hand, embrace the unknown and the challenges it brings. Through each challenge, I aim to grow and become a better person. Life is too short to be held back by fear.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a Paramedical Skin Revision Specialist. Paramedical therapy works on the structure and function of the skin addressing the root cause of the problem. While cosmetic treatments work topically on the surface of the skin, paramedical treatments address skin on an internal cellular level to improve its functionality.
I specialize in pre & post cosmetic surgery care (tummy tuck scars, breast augmentation scars, facelift scars). Rosacea, Acne, Pigmentation, pre & post cancer skincare. (Oncology certified)
I mainly work with a skincare line called DMK. Unlike many over-the-counter cosmetic companies, DMK formulations are pharmaceutical grade. This means that they have a more concentrated ratio of active ingredients to base ingredients. Most cosmetic products have a low ratio, and therefore lack the active ingredients required to instigate real and lasting change within the skin.
The beauty industry has long been focused on the idea of dead cell removal. A multitude of treatments exist to remove, peel, exfoliate and flush. However, this is not enough to build true long-term skin functionality. While there is no single product or machine that will alleviate skin conditions or remove the signs of aging completely, I focus on removing the problem, rebuilding the integrity of the skin cells, teaching my clients to protect and maintain for long term results. It is a true lifetime change.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Never look back, never give up and never listen to people who are not more successful than you.
What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?
Over the past year, I have successfully managed to overcome my imposter syndrome. I now speak kindly to myself and make a conscious effort to stay positive and present throughout each day. I’ve learned to let go of worries about the future and focus on living one day at a time.
