Meet Sandra Riess

We were lucky to catch up with Sandra Riess recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sandra , we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?

I developed my confidence of being on stage in front of people by practicing a lot. I was nervous in the beginning but after doing it lots of times I’m no longer nervous and look forward to performing for people.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My favorite after school activities are gymnastics, dancing and acting. My favorite subjects in school are art, computers and math. I am also trilingual. I speak English and Russian fluently and am learning Mandarin Chinese in school.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

My memorization skills have really helped me when learning my routines. I am also very disciplined when I put my mind to something. I never give up when things are hard and I continue to show up and learn and get better. I received lots of support from my parents, sisters; family and friends. It feels great to have people cheering and rooting for me. I want to make everybody proud.

My advice for people early in their journey are to just try your best. It’s okay if you lose as long as you try your best. Just keep working hard and you will get better.

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

My parents always support me. They enrolled me in a great school. They allow me to act and compete in gymnastics and dance competitions. They give me opportunities to be great in a lot of different things and they always want what is best for me.
