We were lucky to catch up with Sandrine Marlier recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sandrine, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Resilience is a muscle you build. Over time I’ve learned to tap into different places to build that resilience muscle. The first place is from experience.
We can handle any situation and move past them. It may take time, energy and money, but we can go through tough times and find light on the other side.
Building physical resilience helps too. My parents would take my sister and I on hikes when we were little. One formidable memory was getting lost once in the south of France one afternoon and arriving in Spain at night time . We just had to keep going on that trail we were lost in! Cellphones didn’t exist. We eventually found a road, hitchhiked and got back to the campsite. This taught me so much about myself and how our body and mind work. Your mind is stronger that your body. Just keep going!
One of my mantras when times get challenging is ‘Stay’. Stay in the discomfort. Don’t run away from it. You learn so much more by staying and figuring it out. Don’t stay in dangerous situations of course. Recognize the challenge and choose to stay because there’s much you love in the situation. it’s worth staying and figuring it out.
To help, I also lean on my support system . Nature time is a must. Friends time another. You have to let out some steam, laugh, play, rest… Self care ! Having rituals that nourish you, empower you and lift you up. My morning ritual consists of : journaling, gratitude, affirmation, visualization, reading, meditation and exercising . I try to do it in under an hour and a half. This ritual sets me up for success and increases my resilience for the day.
My home is very much my sanctuary and helps me recharge so I can be ready for the challenges that await me too.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
We tend to teach what we most need to learn. Stress and anxiety have been a part of my life since I can remember. It led to closing off one of my arteries when I was 20. I understood then that I had to change my way of being in the world if I didn’t want to be in pain anymore. I learned about meditation, energy healing, coaching, mystical practices from the Quero people.. I also learned to write and use creative avenues to transform energy and help others get on their own transformative journey.
I now offer coaching and healing sessions, and am creating my first online course to help people find their path and strengthen the different areas of their life. This gives so much meaning to my life, brings me joy and is a constant source of creativity. All while still modeling and being a single mum!
I wrote a children’s book on mindfulness to help both kids and parents because this is the sweet spot where change can happen.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I just jolted down: Courage
Financial literacy
Kindness
I be am almost surprised by what I wrote! Those skills and areas have honestly helped me transform my life, many times.
Many of us have dreams, big dreams even, that we don’t go for because we’re scared and don’t have the means.
Not going for your dreams can limit your life. Heck, even crush your soul and spirit!
I say, listen to that deep sweet relentless voice inside that beckons you for expansion. Develop resilience and the courage that comes along, to go for your dream.
Learn how to generate money because you need it.
And be kind. To yourself first, and to others. Appreciate and things in life will appreciate.
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
I remember the first time I read The Secret. It was such a moment of recognition that I wasn’t the only one thinking like that. I was neither crazy nor was I alone. Phew. From that read, many more amplified that message, refined and explained the doings of the mind and of energy. But this first book was the shift for me
