We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sapna Radhakrishnan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sapna, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?
Resilience comes from embracing failure as part of the journey and staying focused on the bigger goal—on meaning and purpose. I’ve learned that every setback carries a lesson, and it’s through those moments of discomfort and growth that true strength emerges. For me, resilience isn’t about perfection; it’s about staying aligned with my purpose, trusting the process, and knowing that each challenge is a stepping stone toward something greater. When you’re rooted in meaning, setbacks lose their power to derail you—they simply become part of your story.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I am a conscious parenting coach and NLP practitioner, helping parents transform their relationships with their children by fostering connection, trust, and understanding. My journey began with a deep desire to move beyond traditional, authoritarian parenting styles and create a space where both parent and child feel seen, heard, and valued.
Through my 8-week program, Parenting Alchemy, I guide parents on a transformative journey to uncover their own patterns, shift from reactivity to empathy, and build authentic connections. What excites me most is witnessing the breakthroughs—when a parent realizes that by healing themselves, they’re not just nurturing their child but transforming their entire family dynamic.
My work is special because it’s rooted in compassion and self-awareness. It’s not about fixing children or controlling behavior; it’s about creating a harmonious environment where both parent and child can thrive.
I’m also thrilled to expand my offerings with new workshops, one-on-one coaching sessions, and live events, including a webinar called Calm and Confident Parenting: Handling Meltdowns and Difficult Moments the Conscious Way. My mission is to help parents feel empowered, reduce power struggles, and raise children who feel deeply connected and understood.
This isn’t just work—it’s a movement toward more conscious, connected families, and I’m honored to be part of that journey.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Self-Awareness
Understanding my own patterns, triggers, and emotions has been the foundation of everything I do. Self-awareness allows you to respond rather than react, which is crucial in both parenting and life. My advice: Start with small, daily moments of reflection. Journaling, meditation, or simply pausing to check in with yourself can open the door to deeper self-awareness.
2. Empathy
The ability to truly listen and see the world through someone else’s eyes—whether a child, client, or colleague—has been transformative. Empathy creates connection and fosters trust. For those early in their journey, practice being fully present in conversations. Listen not to reply, but to understand. Over time, this will naturally deepen your empathy.
3. Adaptability and Growth Mindset
Life and parenting rarely go as planned. Being open to change and viewing challenges as opportunities for growth has helped me stay resilient and innovative. My advice: Embrace failure and see it as feedback. Read books on growth mindset, surround yourself with people who encourage you to evolve, and take small risks to expand your comfort zone.
These three qualities—self-awareness, empathy, and adaptability—are like muscles; the more you use and nurture them, the stronger they become. Focus on progress, not perfection, and trust the journey.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
The most helpful people on my journey have been my mentors and the individuals who inspired me to grow beyond my limits. Dr. Shefali’s teachings on conscious parenting provided a profound shift in how I view relationships and personal growth, while Dr. Richard Bandler have been instrumental in shaping my understanding of human behavior and communication through NLP.
Equally, my clients have been my greatest teachers. Each parent I work with has allowed me to refine my skills, deepen my empathy, and learn the nuances of conscious connection.
On a personal level, my family has been a constant source of inspiration and grounding. The experiences I’ve shared with them—both challenging and joyous—have taught me the importance of vulnerability, adaptability, and unconditional love.
For anyone looking to develop essential skills, my advice is to seek out mentors who resonate with your vision, stay curious, and never stop learning from the people and experiences around you. Every interaction holds a lesson if you’re willing to see it.
