We were lucky to catch up with Saqib Habib recently and have shared our conversation below.
Saqib, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My purpose found me! As I went through life to attack my goals and aspirations, I was very lost on what I wanted to do and what I could do. My family migrated into the USA in 1996, and I spoke zero English. Growing up, the struggle of learning English and really trying to “fit in” was something I always struggled with. As I grew older, I realized I really did not want to “fit in” because I was not meant to fit in. I felt like God blessed me with a vision to help others, but he tested me along the way. I faced adversity athletically, academically, and professionally but stayed true to myself and my faith. The biggest challenge I faced was the typical career, and to date I tell patients that I did not pick physical therapy (PT), the career picked me. After high school, I interned with a PT, and he turned me away from the career as I went through my own journey. 10 years after that internship, I sit here as a DPT and owner of my own clinic. My vision was great, and through the challenges of school and life, here I am. I truly believe my purpose is to change this world, not alone but with the community around me.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
wift Physical Therapy and Performance is a local, cash-based physical therapy clinic. A Hamilton native since age four, owner Saqib Habib has focused on giving back to the community since he opened his doors in March 2020. Swift is the only physical therapy clinic in the area providing cash-based, one-on-one care for patients. Our CEO has spent the last few years, a post-doctoral program, advancing his clinical skills and ensuring thorough patient care, and all methods used are fully supported by research to ensure quality of care.
As a former athlete, and through ACL reconstructive surgery which ultimately ended his sports career, Swift’s CEO found himself at the mercy of physical therapy rehabilitation. Dr. Habib decided to pursue a career in rehabilitation as a means of providing the care every patient deserves following his own unsuccessful prescribed PT protocol. With a client base consisting of current and former athletes, as well as individuals who live and maintain an active lifestyle, Swift is helping the community level up in terms of self-care.
Swift’s mission is to help our clients optimize their lives by living pain-free, moving well, and finding the best version of themselves through enhancing performance. Building personal relationships with our patients is one of our foundational goals.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Faith, Trust, and Discipline
have faith in yourself
trust your journey
stay disciplined to your plan
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did was migrate us from Pakistan to the United States of America.
