We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sara Englishbee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sara below.

Hi Sara, great to have you with us today and excited to have you share your wisdom with our readers. Over the years, after speaking with countless do-ers, makers, builders, entrepreneurs, artists and more we’ve noticed that the ability to take risks is central to almost all stories of triumph and so we’re really interested in hearing about your journey with risk and how you developed your risk-taking ability.

I’ve always believed that without risk, there’s no reward. It’s easy to stay in your comfort zone, but the real growth—and real fulfillment—comes when you take a leap, even when it’s scary. I’ve learned that if you have vision, determination, and grit, you can achieve anything you set your mind to.

When I first had the idea of starting a real estate team, I heard all the warnings: “Don’t do it,” “You’re not ready,” “Are you sure it’s a good idea?” And sure, I could have let that noise stop me. But I knew if I didn’t take a chance on myself, I’d always wonder what could have been. So I chose to bet on me. That decision—to push past fear and doubt—has shaped the way I approach every challenge since.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’ve been a Realtor in the North Houston area for a little over six years, and during that time, I’ve had the honor of helping so many families buy or sell their homes. What truly lights me up is working with first-time home buyers—guiding them through every single step of the process, making sure they not only find the right house, but also feel confident in the investment they’re making. I take that responsibility seriously, because this isn’t just about real estate—it’s about people, their goals, and helping them build a foundation for their future.

Recently, I launched a real estate team called The Closing Collective Team, brokered by Home Sweet Home Group. This wasn’t just a business decision—it was a vision I had for something different. I’ve always believed in surrounding myself with people who share the same values, hustle, and heart, and that’s exactly what happened with Kelly Staubs and Kayla Sargent. This isn’t my team—it’s our team. We’re building something unique together: a group of like-minded agents who lead with grit, serve with intention, and bring a fresh energy to the way real estate is done.

We’re just getting started, but we’ve got big things ahead. We’re growing, collaborating, and most importantly—we’re showing up for our clients in ways that truly matter. This team isn’t your typical real estate group, and honestly, we love it that way.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are leadership, honest communication, and personal determination.

I’ve been in a leadership or management role since I was 15—it’s something that’s always come naturally to me. I’m not afraid to speak up, give direction, or have the tough conversations when needed. That ties into my second strength: honest communication. I’ve never been one to sugarcoat things, especially when it comes to helping others grow. Sometimes people need to hear the hard truth, and I’ve learned how to deliver it in a way that’s constructive, not critical. That builds trust, and trust is everything in this business.

The third piece is determination. I set personal goals, and I don’t just talk about them—I work relentlessly to hit them. That mindset has pushed me through the uncomfortable moments and helped me take risks others might avoid.

For anyone just starting out, my advice is this: Don’t wait for permission to lead—just start showing up as the person you want to become. Speak up even if your voice shakes. Be real, not perfect. And set goals that scare you a little, because growth lives just outside your comfort zone.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, the first thing I do is write everything down. I’ve found that getting it all out of my head and onto paper helps me see things more clearly. From there, I categorize whatever is stressing me out into three buckets: really important, mildly important, and why are you even overwhelmed by this?

That last category is usually where I get the most clarity—sometimes we carry stress over things that, in the grand scheme of things, don’t even deserve our energy. Once I’ve sorted everything out, I can create a clear action plan and focus on what actually matters.

My advice to anyone who feels like they’re drowning in their to-do list is this: Don’t try to tackle it all at once. Break it down, get honest about your priorities, and give yourself permission to let go of the rest. Clarity brings calm—and action brings momentum.
