Meet Sara Fashandi

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sara Fashandi. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sara below.

Sara, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I get my resilience from my mom. She didn’t take “no” for an answer easily and always found ways to solve

problems. My mom was a tough lady with a big, supportive heart, and she taught me the importance of

perseverance, creativity, and compassion in the face of adversity. Her unwavering strength and determination

were a constant source of inspiration, and her ability to remain optimistic and find solutions in difficult situations

showed me the power of a positive mindset. Through her actions, she instilled in me the belief that no challenge

is Insurmountable, and that with hard work and support from loved ones, anything is possible

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My passion is writing about people’s life experiences—their journeys, challenges, and how they overcame them.

This teaches me that life isn’t always a bowl of cherries, but there are different ways to tackle obstacles. I believe

in sharing life’s goodness with those less fortunate. Through my book, Message in a Matchbox, I’ve met many

resilient individuals, and it has been wonderful. The proceeds from my book is donated to help the less

fortunate, giving back to society, the universe, and/or God as my token of gratitude.

While promoting my existing book and hoping that it catches the attention of influential people who might

adapt it into a movie-Because the theme of my book is amazing and unique for a film. I’m also working on the

sequel which Continues on the stories of my brother’s journey in the US when he came here to attend college

This project continues to highlight resilience and the power of pursuing dreams despite challenges

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The three most impactful qualities in my journey have been discipline, curiosity, and persistence.

Discipline: Achieving anything requires focus and dedicated time. It rarely happens by chance.

Curiosity: Always be inquisitive. Don’t settle for easy answers—ask questions and seek deeper understanding.

Persistence: Never take “no” for an answer. Find ways to resolve issues, and use “rejection” as a learning opportunity to improve.”

Before we go, maybe you can tell us a bit about your parents and what you feel was the most impactful thing they did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to prioritize my education, regardless of their

financial situation. They worked tirelessly to save money for their children’s education(all seven of us), ensuring we

all had the opportunity for higher education and better lives. We were the first generation in our family to attend

college. My dad never went to school and my mom only finished ninth grade.

I am forever grateful for their sacrifices and hard work to provide a brighter future for us.”
