Meet Sara Recker

We recently connected with Sara Recker and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara , thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
What a great question, but my answer probably like many is from my Parents and my Grandparents. I recall very clearly while growing up my mother and fathers drive to work hard, grow within their company and push through obstacles. My mother was a Nurse and worked all the many shifts and departments of nursing. She never though once missed coming to see us play sports and participate in many other actives. My father, worked from the age of 18 till he retired at the age of 58 to the same company. No matter the obstacle he moved up the ladder in the company, retiring in a position that required him to finish his college degree and a job that only a handful of other people within the company held. It is an international company, which says a lot. They kept busy all the time with work and family. My grandparents too worked hard to provide for their families. High positions in companies and police detectives were the positions my grandfathers held. My grandmothers worked secretary jobs and bank teller jobs, again to be able to provide. Working hard and providing for others, this is what I strive for to make sure I can give my family all I have.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Sara Recker and I am the owner of The Dress Bridal Boutique. The Dress opened in 2010 and has made Medina, Ohio its forever home. My husband and I live here in Medina as well and are raising 4 children. I graduated with a Political Science degree in 2008 and moved to the Cleveland area right after. My husband Nate and I married in 2009. I say The Dress is the itch left behind from my own wedding, wanting more in the industry. I had our first daughter in 2011 and then our son in 2014, followed by our second soon in 2016 and our caboose daughter in 2019. We love being a part of our community, school and church.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Patience, change and perseverance. Developing your business takes time, being patient and understanding not all business grows overnight. Mine took years, but I love it! We are constantly changing with the times, the generations and our world. You have to in order to survive. This work gets hard and obstacles show up all the time, you have to keep moving forward if your business is what you truly want and love and need. Let your feet hit the floor in the morning and never stop!

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
The change in the generation of bride coming through our doors. As much of a challenge it is, it is a fun one. We are learning what we can do to make them comfortable, happy and excited for this! Our world of social media and yes, post pandemic life styles are something we all have to change with. It is a challenging one getting to know this genereation and how they see the world, but it is a fun on!
