Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sara Springhetti. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sara, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I get my work ethic from my mom. She is someone who worked 2+ jobs while going to get her associates when I was young. For me, she showed me that anything is possible as long as you put the time towards it. She is truly an inspiration.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My full-time job is human resources. I always had a passion for helping people, inspiring people, and doing what I could to get them to wherever they want to go. I have been lucky to have amazing mentors throughout my journey.
I currently work at Vitamix, a family owned company that embodies the values. I have always looked for in a company. It truly has a culture of family, teamwork, and collaboration, which is where I strive most.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
For me, the three qualities that I’ve been most impactful throughout my journey are: persistence, creativity, and humility. You have to be persistent as you’re teaching yourself new patterns, and be understanding if one doesn’t come out as you wanted it to. Being creative is what creates each and everyone of my handmade gems, and allows me to just work versus always having a plan going into making my products. And even if someone doesn’t like an item, or comments negatively, it is important to be humble and understanding that not everyone will be your biggest fan.
For anyone starting on their small business journey, the biggest advice I have is to be patient. It takes time to build a small business, but things will fall into your lap if you continue to be consistent. Before you know it, you’ll have people reaching out left and right!
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
For me, clients are my favorite part of my job. As someone who works in human resources, I enjoy collaborating and communicating with each client I work with. The perfect client is truly someone who comes with a plan of what they would like. They have a vision, they explain it, and they are open to having conversations throughout the process. I also love clients who may not have the vision set out, but allow me to be creative with their handmade gem through the descriptions they provide me.
