Sara, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I come from a family business that, deep down, I knew wasn’t part of my calling. As a Christian, I wrestled with the question of purpose — I knew I was called to live for the glory of God, but I didn’t yet know how. I tried different jobs, including lawn care, but they didn’t feel right in my spirit. It wasn’t until I stepped away from those paths that I discovered my true purpose: working with herbs.
God began opening my eyes to the beauty and power of His creation — how herbs could be used to bring comfort, healing, and connection. What started as a small idea quickly grew into a full-blown passion and mission: to help families through faith-based herbal products, and to create something that served others, not just myself. That’s how Naturally Inspirational was born — a calling rooted in God’s plan, not my own.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m Sara Whitman, founder of Naturally Inspirational — a faith-based business helping families reconnect with God’s natural gifts through herbal remedies, creative wellness, and intentional living. Everything I create is an act of worship — whether it’s handmade salves, family-friendly recipe books, or hands-on herbal projects, my goal is to glorify God and serve others through natural living.

What makes Naturally Inspirational so special is how it brings people together. I’ve seen grandparents teaching grandkids how to make yarrow honey, moms finding real relief through our pain salves, and homeschool families discovering God’s design through Scripture-based plant studies. This isn’t just about herbs — it’s about purpose, healing, and connection through Christ.

Right now, I’m especially excited to share that we’ve launched beginner-friendly herbal classes at Cozy Cat in Sanford, Michigan — with more workshops coming soon! These classes are designed to be welcoming, faith-filled, and practical, perfect for anyone curious about herbalism but unsure where to begin.

We’re also launching a brand-new faith-based herbal podcast, where we’ll talk about plant wisdom, natural wellness, and how to explore God’s gifts safely and confidently. And we’re planning an open mic night all about herbalism — a space where people can share their stories, ask questions, and learn in community.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, three qualities have been essential in my journey as a faith-based entrepreneur and herbalist:

Faith and Trust in God’s Timing
Starting and growing Naturally Inspirational hasn’t always been easy — but staying rooted in prayer and trusting God’s plan has made all the difference. There were seasons of waiting, uncertainty, and stretching. But each one had purpose. My advice? Stay anchored in your “why” and let God set the pace. Pray over your business, your audience, and your every step. He’s faithful to lead.

Willingness to Keep Learning
I didn’t have it all figured out when I started — and I still don’t! But I stay curious. From herbal medicine-making to designing my website to navigating social media, I’ve learned by doing. My encouragement: don’t wait for perfection. Take the next right step. Ask questions, take classes, and be okay with trying things out. Growth comes from movement, not mastery.

Authentic Connection and Service
People connect with your heart — not just your product. I’ve learned that showing up with sincerity, sharing my story, and creating from a place of love makes all the difference. If you focus on serving others genuinely and with purpose, your message will resonate. Be kind, be consistent, and be real — that’s what builds trust and community.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

Above all, God has been my greatest help and source of strength. Every fear, roadblock, and moment of burnout — I brought to Him in prayer. He’s opened doors I never saw coming and brought the right people into my life at just the right time. My relationship with the Lord is the foundation of Naturally Inspirational.

I’m also incredibly thankful for my family and close friends. They’ve encouraged me behind the scenes every step of the way — helping at booths, watching my kids during events, or simply reminding me why I started. Their support has carried me through so many moments of doubt.

And I’ve learned so much from others in the natural living and faith-based communities — even from afar. Podcasts, books, online mentors, and creative entrepreneurs have all poured into me. They reminded me that you don’t need to have it all figured out — you just need to be willing to follow God’s lead and keep growing.

Wherever you are in your journey, surround yourself with people who speak life into your vision — and never stop seeking wisdom from the One who gave you the dream in the first place.
