Meet Sara Zanville

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sara Zanville a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sara, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic definitely comes from my parents. I grew up in a household of two parents that worked so hard and I was always watching from the sidelines. My dad worked as Director of Marketing and Public Relations at different Amusement Parks, Concert Venues, and Race Tracks. I remember at 9 years old him teaching me how to “write” a press release. My mom was a Director of Media Relations at Pacific Bell and left to start her own business for Media Training and Strategic Communications. Watching both of my parents work so hard, start businesses, and constantly get promoted from job to job was so inspirational!

I got my first salaried position at 22 years old, managing a restaurant. 20 years in the hospitality industry, I oversaw restaurants, worked at a Film Studio in hospitality and events, and worked in a corporate position for a restaurant company. I switched careers during the pandemic and became a Realtor.

Thanks to my work ethic and hustle mentality, I’ve closed 11 deals in my first year in Real Estate and continue to grow and work harder each day.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I had a covid career switch and got my Real Estate license during the pandemic. In 2019 I bought my first condo and it inspired me to get into the business. My main focus is to help people achieve their dream of buying a home. I’ve worked with many first-time homebuyers and that feeling of watching them open the door for the first time of the home they’ve worked so hard to get is the exact reason why I chose to switch careers.

I grew up in Los Angeles, so that definitely helps with knowing the area and finding the perfect home for my clients. I’m an agent at Equity Union. You’ve probably seen the signs, postcards, and email marketing. That’s because Equity Union has caused an explosion in the Southern California real estate industry, thanks to the visionary leadership of its CEO, Harma Hartouni, and the brand’s vision to be a full-service real estate company providing its agents with powerful tools to market properties for their clients with consistent and stunning branding.

I’m constantly growing and learning in this industry, but my core value of wanting to help my clients find their dream home is my base. I pride myself in overcommunicating, guiding, and treating everyone the way I would want to be treated during the biggest financial decision of their life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I definitely think having that work ethic was a great start to starting a new career. You need to be consistent and organized in this industry. I’m a very structured person, so checklists and schedules are my life! Definitely stay informed of the change in the market, utilize your resources, and be passionate about this industry.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
I was always told to work. I remember babysitting, doing things around the house, and working at a movie theater in high school. I started in the hospitality industry at 19 years old and never stopped working. Their hustle was so inspiring and watching the way they would work so hard definitely left an impression.
