We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Baldeo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Over the years I’ve learned to utilize a neural resilience framework that interrupts my fight or flight response in the midst of chaos or trauma. Whether this has been overcoming cancer, single motherhood and lone parenting, or facing lawsuits I’ve focused on utilizing my frontal cortex instead of my reptilian brain during stressful moments. This comes from a practice I discovered in my thesis work, called Ballistic Interruption.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a neuroscientist & 18- year professional global keynote speaker I’ve been focusing all my energies on continuing to scale the company I founded in 2010, ID Quotient. IDQ is a neuroscience & AI firm based in Miami Florida. As part of our international expansion I’ve been fortunate to be on a global speaking & media tour – across outlets like Fox, CTV News & CBC News!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Simply.
1) Be ACCOUNTABLE for both your successes & failures.
2) Have INTEGRITY in everything you do! That means being transparent & honest even when it’s uncomfortable
3) Be BOLDLY AUDACIOUSLY AMBITIOUS – keep your dreams & aspirations HUGE
Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Immigrating to the USA from Canada has been an adventure over the past month! I signed a treaty with the US government after scaling my company by over 200% in the past 2 years. Living in a new country and moving my personal life, family and businesses here has taken so much grit (and paperwork!).
