Meet Sarah & Cassie

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah & Cassie. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah & below.

Sarah &, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

Popcorn Paparazzi started the way all great Hollywood stories do: two best friends, a dream, and a shared obsession with Jake Gyllenhaal.

Cassie and Sarah met back in high school, bonding instantly over a mutual love of movies, celebrity gossip, and making each other laugh until untiled we cried. That bond led them straight to Los Angeles after graduation—ready to make it big. Between the two of them, they snagged gigs as extras on film sets, landed internships at Entertainment Tonight, and lived the kind of early 20s montage usually set to a pop song.

Then life did what life does—different states, marriages, kids, careers. But in 2020, when the world hit pause, they hit record. One call turned into, “Let’s start a podcast,” and Popcorn Paparazzi was born.

Now, every week, they’re here to help listeners decide: splurge on the big-screen experience or cozy up at home? With popcorn pairings, spicy celeb gossip, and unfiltered opinions, it’s movie talk with a red-carpet twist.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Cassie and Sarah have now reviewed over 85 films and TV shows—and yes, we’re still finding ways to cast Jake Gyllenhaal in everything. Our mission? Simple: help listeners decide whether a movie is worth the trek to the theater… or if they should save the popcorn for their couch.

What makes Popcorn Paparazzi different is that we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We’re not here to dissect lighting design or argue over Oscar buzz (well… not every week). We’re here for the fun: light-hearted, spoiler-free reviews, hilarious takes, unexpected casting swaps, wardrobe commentary, and just enough celeb gossip to keep things spicy. Think of us as your movie-loving besties who bring the laughs, the opinions, and occasionally, the popcorn pairings (yes, we match snacks to films).

What started as a pandemic passion project has grown into something bigger—now we’re expanding into YouTube with mini video versions of our show, experimenting with reels and shorts, and gearing up to bring on special guests from the world of entertainment.

If you’re into movies, memes, or mildly unhinged recastings featuring Jake Gyllenhaal—welcome to the party.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, we think three things made the biggest difference for us:
1. Consistency
2. Chemistry
3. Learning to laugh at ourselves (loudly and often)

Consistency was huge. Even when we had no idea who was listening, we showed up, recorded, and posted. Staying committed—even when the numbers were small—was what gave Popcorn Paparazzi a chance to grow.

Chemistry is what makes our show feel real. We’ve been friends since flip phones were a thing, and we bring that unfiltered, best-friend banter into every episode. If you’re starting your own show or creative project, ask yourself: “Who do I love talking to when no one’s watching?” Start there.

And humor and humility? Non-negotiable. You’ll mess up, you’ll cringe at early episodes, and you’ll definitely pronounce Saoirse Ronan wrong at least once. But if you can laugh at yourself, stay curious, and keep going, you’re already ahead of the game.

Our advice? Start before you feel ready. Progress beats perfection. And if you’re making something that you would want to listen to, chances are someone else will too.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We’re always on the lookout for people working in the entertainment industry—whether you’re a background actor, a costume designer, a screenwriter, or a director calling the shots. If you’re part of the magic that brings stories to life, we want to hear your behind-the-scenes gems and help share your story with our audience.

Popcorn Paparazzi isn’t just about reviews—it’s about celebrating the art, the chaos, and the hustle that goes into making movies and shows. We’re endlessly curious and love learning about all the moving pieces that happen off-camera. If you’re down for a fun and honest conversation (with bonus popcorn talk), we’d love to have you on the pod.
