Meet Sarah Crosby

We were lucky to catch up with Sarah Crosby recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah , so happy to have you on the platform and I think our readers are in for a treat because you’ve got such an interesting story and so much insight and wisdom. So, let’s start with a topic that is relevant to everyone, regardless of industry etc. What do you do for self-care and how has it impacted you?
I exercise, talk walks with my husband, and watch mind numbing TV before bed.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
The simple answer is “I do hair”. What is exciting about it is that I love to give people a break from their busy schedules. It is just me in my suite so it gives me an opportunity to get to know my clients on a deeper level and make sure they are comfortable. My goal is to have everyone leave me feeling RELAXED, RECHARGED and BEAUTIFUL.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Persistance, patience and good listening skills.

When building a clientele you have to dig deep, put your head down and just keep going. Keep putting yourself out there until people realize you and your business are there.

You need to have patience to know that this phase of building is not forever. The times I have had to start over in a new area I give myself a year. If my business doesnt grow in a year then I need to change my tactics.

Good listening skills are key in the service industry. Clients need to feel heard and understood. I have found that most negative reviews come from a bad consultation and not listening to the guest.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I am always looking for ways to grow in my field. And I know there are many opportunities outside of the salon. I had the opportunity to assist for a shoot that was nominated for a NAHA. It was an incredible experience. I am craving for more. Anyone looking for a stylist for a photo shoot, fashion show, editorials, etc can feel free to contact me via my email [email protected].
