Hi Sarah Hariri, we’re so appreciative of you taking the time to share your nuggets of wisdom with our community. One of the topics we think is most important for folks looking to level up their lives is building up their self-confidence and self-esteem. Can you share how you developed your confidence?
Confidence and self-esteem develop over time, often shaped by experiences, learning, and personal growth. For me, it’s a combination of a few factors:
Learning and Mastery:
Gaining knowledge and mastering skills helps build a sense of competence. The more I understood topics and became proficient in them, the more confident I felt. Confidence grows when you feel capable of handling challenges.
Overcoming Challenges:
Facing setbacks or difficulties and working through them is another way confidence develops. Each obstacle overcome builds resilience, making it easier to handle future challenges.
Self-Reflection:
I spent time reflecting on both successes and failures. Acknowledging strengths and areas of growth allowed me to focus on improvement without being overly self-critical. This balanced approach helped build a stronger sense of self-worth.
Support System:
Surrounding myself with supportive and positive people who provided encouragement helped bolster my confidence. Whether through friends, family, or mentors, having people believe in you can make a big difference.
Taking Small Steps:
Confidence isn’t an overnight transformation. I started with small goals and built up over time. Each success, no matter how small, contributed to feeling more confident and capable.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three key qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey would be:
1. Resilience (Mental Toughness)
Why It Was Impactful: Life and business are full of challenges, failures, and setbacks. Resilience helped me push through obstacles without getting discouraged or giving up. It allowed me to stay focused on long-term goals, even in the face of short-term struggles.
Advice for Developing Resilience: Start by embracing discomfort and failure as part of the learning process. Rather than avoiding challenges, step into them. Break large tasks into smaller, manageable goals, and celebrate the small victories along the way. Build resilience by reflecting on difficult situations and learning how to handle them better next time.
2. Adaptability (Flexibility and Willingness to Learn)
Why It Was Impactful: Industries change, technology evolves, and unexpected circumstances arise. Being adaptable meant I could pivot when necessary, learn new skills, and seize opportunities I hadn’t anticipated. It prevented me from getting stuck in old ways of thinking and helped me stay relevant.
Advice for Developing Adaptability: Cultivate a mindset that is open to learning and change. Regularly push yourself to acquire new skills or knowledge outside of your comfort zone. Stay curious and open to feedback. Try different approaches when things don’t work out the way you expect, and always be willing to adjust your strategy.
3. Networking and Building Relationships
Why It Was Impactful: Success is rarely achieved alone. Building meaningful relationships with others opened doors to opportunities, mentorships, collaborations, and support systems that were crucial to my growth. These relationships were not just transactional but based on trust and mutual benefit.
Advice for Developing This: Start by genuinely connecting with people, focusing on building relationships rather than just “networking.” Be curious about others’ journeys, and don’t be afraid to reach out for advice or help. Be consistent in offering value and support in return. Networking isn’t about how many people you know but the quality of the relationships you build.
For those early in their journey, I’d emphasize the importance of being patient with yourself and the process. Growth takes time, and the journey will have its ups and downs. By focusing on building resilience, staying adaptable, and creating authentic connections, you’ll be setting a strong foundation for future success.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
1. Mentors and Coaches
Impact: Mentors played a huge role in helping me gain perspective, especially during challenging times. Their advice was invaluable because they had walked similar paths and could offer guidance rooted in experience. Coaches, on the other hand, helped me focus on personal development, building the skills and mindset I needed to succeed.
Family and Close Friends
Impact: My family and close friends provided emotional stability and support when things were tough. They reminded me of my worth beyond professional success, which helped me stay grounded.
For anyone early in their journey, I recommend seeking out mentors or coaches who align with your goals, surrounding yourself with peers who challenge you, and drawing on the wisdom of trusted friends and family. Also, continually feed your mind with insights from inspirational figures who’ve overcome similar challenges.
