Meet Sarah Kraeuter

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Kraeuter. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.

Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes from being raised with strong values around accountability and respect, and it’s been shaped even more by my career in hospitality. I’ve learned that details matter, consistency matters, and the way you show up every day impacts both your team and the guest experience. I take pride in doing things the right way, even when no one is watching, and I believe strong work ethic is about ownership, reliability, and genuinely caring about the outcome.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a custom dessert artist specializing in thoughtfully designed sugar cookies and treat sets for celebrations of all kinds—from baby showers and birthdays to holidays and milestone events. What I do goes beyond baking; it’s about helping people celebrate meaningful moments through intentional design, attention to detail, and a strong sense of hospitality. Each order is approached as a collaboration, ensuring the final product feels personal, polished, and memorable.

What excites me most about my work is the storytelling aspect. Every theme, color palette, and design choice is an opportunity to reflect someone’s vision and bring it to life in a way that feels special and elevated. My background in hospitality has shaped how I run my business—I focus heavily on consistency, communication, and creating an experience that feels just as good as the final product looks. I believe people remember how you made them feel, and I strive to make every client feel cared for and confident throughout the process.

As my brand continues to grow, I’m focused on refining my offerings, expanding creative themes, and continuing to build a recognizable style rooted in quality and heart. I love connecting with clients and fellow creatives through social media and look forward to new opportunities to collaborate, celebrate, and create meaningful moments—one custom order at a time.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Consistency has mattered more than any single moment of success. Showing up, meeting deadlines, maintaining quality, and doing the “unseen” work builds trust over time—with clients, collaborators, and yourself. My advice for anyone early in their journey is to focus less on perfection and more on reliability. Small, consistent improvements compound quickly.

A hospitality-driven mindset has shaped how I approach my work. Whether you’re creating a product, offering a service, or building a brand, how people feel throughout the experience matters just as much as the final outcome. For those starting out, I’d encourage you to practice clear communication, set expectations, and genuinely care about the people you serve. Those habits will set you apart early.

Finally, a commitment to learning has been essential. I’ve grown the most when I’ve stayed curious—seeking feedback, observing what works, and being open to evolving my style and process. My advice is to never stop being a student of your craft. Invest in learning, learn from others in your space, and don’t be afraid to refine your approach as you grow.

Together, these qualities—consistency, hospitality, and continuous learning—have helped me build something sustainable and meaningful, and they’re the same foundations I’d recommend to anyone just starting their journey.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?

The biggest challenge I’m currently navigating is balancing growth with consistency. As demand increases, it’s important to maintain the level of quality, creativity, and care that defines my work, without burning out or compromising the client experience.

To address this, I’m being very intentional about my systems and boundaries. I’m refining my ordering process, streamlining production workflows, and setting realistic limits so each order still receives the attention it deserves. I’m also investing time in planning, testing designs ahead of time, and continuously improving my techniques so I can work more efficiently without sacrificing craftsmanship.

I see this challenge as a positive one—it’s a sign of growth—and overcoming it is helping me build a more sustainable, high-quality business that allows me to continue creating with passion while serving my clients well.
