Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarah McCann. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sarah , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I was very blessed to have found my purpose at a very young age, in my 20’s when I was living in the Bay Area. It was all a manifestation of course, but I was lucky enough to walk through the right doors and walk down the right paths when they opened for me. During college, I had founded an all-women’s hip hop artist collective which led to many other things. But hosting the first show in January of 2001 that started that was the first time I intentionally created a space where I brought women together to share their stories and inspire others. During my lifetime and getting caught up in corporate America, I lost that for a while, but I was able to bring that back during Covid with the launch of Feminine Frequency Retreats and then even more with the work that I do as a financial planner. I have always been here to create safe spaces for individuals to be able to tell their stories and now I have the absolute honor of being able to help others gain clarity in what it is they want and lead them on a path to achieve it.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
There are really 4 major parts of who I am at this current time but with everything, I am just a good person leading other good people to design the life they want to live.
Professionally, I own a financial strategies firm where I am focused on creating a safe space for everyone, especially women, parents, and entrepreneurs, to tell their stories and gain clarity on their goals. We take the time to assess their current situation, identify their destination, and offer options to reach it by building a personalized plan to help them maximize their resources, providing a snapshot of their financial picture. Each and every client receives tailored strategies to grow and protect their wealth. As their priorities evolve, we adapt their financial strategies to stay on track. My goal is to turn their dreams into reality as their partner in planning.
Secondly, I am a dot connector. I believe in the power of connection and have spent many years cultivating strong relationships in various aspects of my life. Whenever I meet anyone, I am always thinking of who I can connect them with to help them grow in other areas and, on the flip side, lean on others to connect me to good people. Part of why I love what I do so much in terms of financial planning is that I spend all days being able to help good people with good character, strong family values, a growth mindset and people who want to see others rise up with them. I would not be where I am now without all of the amazing referrals I have received thus far and in return, I am always trying to connect other good people simultaneously.
Outside of my financial planning, I also own Feminine Frequency Retreats – in-person retreats incorporating arts, wellness and mind-body-soul connection with a focus around sisterhood and storytelling. For open-minded, out of the box women who also enjoy a dash of turn-up…Not your typical women’s retreat! I usually host at least one event per year but have nothing fully solidified for 2026 just yet.
And, lastly, I am a 100% single mother raising an amazing 13-year-old daughter. As you can imagine this is a full-time job in itself, but I enjoy every moment of it!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
This is a tough question, but if I had to choose 3, it would be the following:
1. Always be genuinely you and ensure that what you’re doing allows you to be you!
2. GRIT! This has been one of the biggest qualities that I have had to have in most of my professional journey. Nothing good comes easy and always requires hard work. Some are not built with this level of work ethic, but if you want something bad enough, you have to work hard for it.
3. Growth lives in the other side of discomfort. This has been huge for me and requires a ton of mind-set work of course, but I have realized that in order to truly grow and build what I am trying to build, it is necessary to step out of my comfort zone almost every day.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the last year my biggest area of growth has absolutely been staying focused on what it is that I can control and letting go of what is out of my control. Life is like a roller coaster ride in so many ways and it’s inevitable that things will be tough at times. Sometimes it can feel like everything is falling apart, but I have learned that if I can stay present in the moment, focus on what I can control, let go of expectations and remain rooted in my purpose, everything will turn out to be just as it should. I try to start and end each day with a sense of gratitude for all that I have in my life including my health and the opportunity to lead others.
