We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah Parlow. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah below.
Sarah, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
My mother. She really had the best laugh. It was truly infectious! And despite the busyness of having four children, work, and the endless demands of life, we always heard her laugh. She knew how to find joy in life!
I come from a long line of strong women. As a child, they taught me how to keep going. Dark times come, and it’s ok to be sad sometimes. That part is human. Yet I always remember that as soon as a problem arises, so does the solution. Optimism is simply directing energy towards that solution.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I became a life coach to help others get into better alignment with themselves. People everywhere are going through it right now. I have definitely been there. There was a moment while training to be a nurse anesthetist that I really struggled with starting IV lines on patients. One day after multiple failed attempts, I locked myself in the bathroom and just had to cry it out. I was so frustrated! That was the moment I made a conscious choice to believe in myself. A few minutes later, I emerged with new determination and started to flawlessly slide IV lines in every patient left in pre-op. No hesitation. It was like a light switch had gone off. I’m here to help others find their light switch. That’s why I created my 1:1 coaching business, Aligned with Sarah. My ethos is that when someone is authentic and aligned with their inner self, all the facets of their life light up. There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1) Self-love. You really cannot love anyone until you love yourself first.
2) Information-sharing. We don’t have time in life to figure everything out. Talk to people. It’s like sharing one big brain.
3) Relationships. Building connections is key to success. It will take you very far.
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am so open to collaboration right now. I love connecting with creatives, other life coaches, people with messages of positivity and those who want to help. In these uncertain times, I believe that community will keep us sane and help build a better, more inclusive world.
