Meet Sarah – Pearl Hall

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sarah – Pearl Hall. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sarah – Pearl below.

Hi Sarah – Pearl, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I’m grateful that a huge factor in remaining resilient personally, is my indigenous heritage. I come from a long line of Sioux warriors and Blackfeet storytellers. I’ve been told many times by tribal elders, leaders, as well as my own family, that the word “Quit” isn’t in our vocabulary. I notice often times when I feel like giving up, I have this urge to try no matter what, rise up in me. That desire has fueled me to create short films, photo sets, and more media projects throughout my career..

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Currently I’m getting my hands dirty in the world of cinematography and screenwriting. I can’t say I’ve mastered the craft yet but I’m excited to learn more! After debuting a short film at a festival in Hollywood last year, I had a chance to mingle with industry professionals. I had fun picking their brains and seeing their work on screen. I spent some time with one of the cinematographers from the show “Reservation Dogs” and he inspired me to expand my horizons. Since then, I’ve also started working on a feature film script as well as making another short film that I plan to circulate through some festivals this coming year. Filmmaking and photography are art forms that are both difficult and easy. I’m happy I’ve had years worth of learning and experience afforded to me to pursue this passion.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Any artists first experience in their craft is super impactful. For me, the first video shoot I ever did taught me so much about both videography and conducting business. Even though there were so many moments of naivety and embarrassment, I walked away from them enlightened and focused on improving problem areas. When I studied media communications at Haskell Indian Nations University, the skills and knowledge I acquired in shooting and editing broadened my scope for the better! On top of that, making any pursuit successful requires hope and willingness. I get a lot of hope from my faith in God and he definitely helps me complete projects. There’s films and photo shoots I’ve made that would’ve turned out bad had I not prayed about it first. So I’m very grateful to God for his plan in my life.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Right now, I’m looking for actors for my projects. I love to create and also be in front of the camera, but there’s so much more variety in incorporating more characters in my projects. I’m also interested in learning more about the entertainment industry from experienced professionals. I’d even enjoy getting to work with novice creators and entertainers to teach them about what I know, as well as learning right along with them!
