Meet Sarah Pigeon

We recently connected with Sarah Pigeon and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
I kind of fell into acupuncture. I hadn’t ever even had a treatment before I started school. When I got there, all these people who were there with me had these amazing stories of how acupuncture had changed their life, or someone close to them, and I thought to myself “What am I doing here?” I just thought it seemed cool. But the more and more I practiced, the more and more I realized that, just because I’m not one of those people who had a life changing experience, doesn’t mean that I can’t enact a change for someone else, and that I get to help people feel better everyday through what I do. Once I realized how much I actually love helping people, I figured out that is exactly what I’m meant to do. And now, I see that everyday that I get to go to work, I get to help more and more people feel awesome, and that is my main mission-to help as many people as I can feel awesome.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Like I said, I love helping people feel better. That’s why I chose acupuncture and why I love teaching Spin. It’s also why I wrote my book, “Feel Awesome Everyday,” because I am really trying to reach as many people as I can, and if one thing I say resonates with you, and it helps you just a little, how many others are out there, that I can reach as well?

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Perseverance. The journey is not always easy. There were days that I just wanted to quit school and just travel and surf, but I knew this is what I was meant to do, so I went to class, and I studied. And then, when I graduated, I kept at it again. I marketed and I posted and I did what I needed to do to get my practice successful. It will eventually pay off, so just keep up with the work. 2. Positivity and Optimism. Again, it’s not always easy. There were days that I wondered how I was going to pay my rent. I wondered if my practice would ever be successful. I wondered WHEN all the work would finally pay off? I had to stay positive. I kept telling myself it would payoff, there may not be a specific date, I may not know when, I may not know how, but stay positive and optimistic and just keep going, and, of course, eventually it did.
3. Gratitude. I know, EVERYONE says stay grateful. But, I swear, it is true. I was grateful for where I was. I was grateful for the journey and the lessons and the challenges, because everyday it was making me better and better and I was learning so that I was constantly growing and moving forward. It is still true to this day. I am grateful I am where I am. I’m grateful for the life and business that I have and I’m grateful and excited for what’s to come.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?
My partner and I just moved across the country to Virginia, so my current challenge that I’m facing is actually starting all over again. I feel like I am somewhat back in the same place I was when I first started my practice, but again (going back to gratitude) I’m so thankful for all the lessons I learned when I was first starting out, because now I am able to use them here, so I can be successful sooner and build a business and my brand more quickly.
