We were lucky to catch up with Sarah Prentice recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sarah, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
I’ve built my self-confidence and self-esteem the old-fashioned way: by faking it until I made it! I won’t hide the truth—I’m always battling with confidence, but I’ve learned to just dive headfirst into whatever I’m doing and hope for the best. Every day, I work hard to rewire my brain to see failure not as a setback but as proof that I tried and as an opportunity to grow and learn. So, while I might not always feel like the most confident person in the room, I’m definitely getting there, one step (or stumble) at a time!
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
As a social media marketer for wedding professionals, I help wedding vendors achieve their business goals with customized social media marketing strategies. I love that my work allows me to blend my creative flair with my strategic thinking to craft unique approaches for each client. Whether it’s through coaching, consulting, or providing full social media management, I’m dedicated to helping wedding vendors grow their brands and connect with their ideal clients. It’s incredibly fulfilling to use my skills to support talented vendors in the wedding industry and watch their businesses flourish!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three pieces of information that have been most impactful for me are, first, the importance of niching down. Finding a skill I love and choosing a niche to specialize in has been a game changer—I’ve seen such an increase in inquiries once people knew I specialized in the wedding industry. Second, networking is crucial. Building relationships is so important because people trust referrals and word-of-mouth recommendations. Third, while it’s not exactly a skill, I’ve learned the value of perseverance. Pushing through, even when I don’t feel like it, has been key to getting where I am today.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I’m feeling overwhelmed, I break things down step by step. I make a list of everything I need to do and tackle one task at a time. I also love going for walks to clear my mind and reset my focus.
