Meet Sarah West

We recently connected with Sarah West and have shared our conversation below.

Sarah , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Growing up and throughout my time at school, I was always drawn to the arts. It took me several years after college to figure out how to best channel my artistic abilities into a career, but as soon as I got into interior design I knew it was my true calling. I love helping my clients bring their vision to life by transforming their home through custom furnishings and creating a design that is personalized to their life style.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Sarah West Interiors is a Los Angeles based Design and Architecture Studio specializing in Full-Service Luxury Residential Design. As the founder and principal designer of Sarah West Interiors, I love to be hands-on and involved in all stages of the process of our projects to ensure every detail is carried out. Our primary clientele is in the entertainment industry, this makes for an interesting and unique scope of work. Over this past year we have added several talented designers and architects to our team, as we continue to expand.

One of the most exciting parts of the job is designing custom furniture, and I often collaborate with clients to envision a piece and bring it together. Ultimately, I have a deep love for functional art and do so by collaborating with different tradesmen to bring the design to life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Consistency, patience, and collaborativeness are three qualities that I have learned through my experiences in the industry to be extremely impactful and important. It is so key to remain consistent in everything that you do and the work that you put out as a creative. If you are remaining consistent and doing your best work, success will naturally come through your commitment. In the same vein, patience has been essential to my experience throughout building my business. Success doesn’t come overnight, and it’s important to stay positive and motivated, especially in the early days. Lastly, our business could not function without the collaborative efforts of our amazing team members, the tradesmen we work with, and our clients. One person can’t build a house on their own, so the group effort is essential to the success of each project we do.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without my amazing grandfather. Not only is he exceptionally knowledgeable and business-minded, but he is also personable, passionate, and kind. He is my go to person whenever I have questions about the logistics of the company or need advice about client relations. Sarah West Interiors would be in a very different place without his guidance and business expertise. On a personal level, he is a major support system for me. If I am ever questioning something, he is the first call I make. At the end of the day, he is my biggest supporter and his guidance has been invaluable to my personal and professional growth.
