Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sarah Wood. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sarah, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Honestly, I didn’t go searching for my purpose—it kind of found me. I’ve always loved playing the harp, and I noticed that whenever I played, time just flew by. It never felt like work; it just made me happy. That’s when it clicked—maybe the thing I love most is what I’m meant to do.
I think purpose isn’t something you have to force. It’s usually tied to what excites you, what you’d do even if no one paid you, and what just feels right. For me, that’s making music and sharing it with others. If you’re trying to find your purpose, start with what makes you light up—that’s probably a good sign you’re on the right path.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’ve always loved playing the harp for weddings and events, but lately, I’ve been wanting to share my music in a bigger way—beyond just live performances. That’s why I’m focusing on creating more professional content for social media and rebranding to reflect this new direction. I want to bring the beauty of the harp to more people, no matter where they are.
Right now, I’m working on leveling up my video, audio, and editing skills so I can make my content even better. It’s been a fun (and sometimes frustrating) learning process, but I’m excited to keep improving, refining my brand, and sharing my music with the world in new ways. Can’t wait to see where this journey takes me!
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Harp Skills
I’m incredibly grateful that I started playing the harp at such a young age. Practicing for hours as an 8-year-old laid the foundation for everything I do now. I honestly believe I wouldn’t be where I am today without the dedication and discipline that came from those early years of playing. The harp has shaped not just my music, but my approach to life and work.
2. Consistency & Discipline
The most important lesson I’ve learned is that consistency is everything. There are definitely days when motivation is low, but that’s where self-discipline comes in. It’s about showing up, even when it’s hard. When the energy isn’t there, it’s the commitment to push through and do the work anyway that makes the biggest difference and has the greatest impact.
3. Belief in Myself
I refuse to let myself quit. I’ve faced disheartening moments and setbacks along the way, but I keep moving forward toward my goals and what I truly desire from life. I focus on what I want, not what I don’t have. I truly believe in the law of attraction and the power of aligning your mindset with your dreams. I only have one life, and I refuse to live with regrets. I’m going after what I want, no matter the obstacles. The world will always scrutinize you, and people will have their opinions, but what truly matters is what you tell yourself and what brings you real happiness. You are your biggest cheerleader—you have to be there for yourself. I remind myself of this all the time: failure is inevitable, but it’s how you respond that shapes the outcome. Don’t quit. Keep going, because as long as you don’t quit, you can’t fail.
My piece of advice:
Believe in yourself, stay consistent, and never let setbacks stop you. Keep going, even when it gets tough – the only way to fail is to quit. We’ve got this!
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Currently, I’m learning how to make my harp recordings more crisp and clear while minimizing background noise, especially with the challenge of recording in an apartment. It’s been a process of trial and error, but I’m excited to keep improving my sound quality.
