Meet Sasha

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sasha. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sasha , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?

Being a creative has always come naturally to me. I don’t think a day goes by without a new idea forming or a goal being written down for the future. Honestly, I believe that’s part of my purpose. I’ve always been a deep thinker…someone who sees beyond what’s right in front of them and imagines what could be.

There’s something incredibly powerful about being able to visualize something before it ever exists. That’s where the creative mind is born…in that space outside the box, fueled by vision and grounded in purpose.

Even when an idea feels wild or unconventional, I still write it down. That’s the art of it. That’s faith.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m the co-owner of KelSas Sweet Box, a creative food business built on the idea that “it’s the mini things” that bring people together. I run the business alongside my sister-in-law, Kelly…we’re both moms (I have six kids, she has five!), and together we’ve built a brand that blends our love for food, family, and community.

We specialize in handcrafted mini desserts…mini cheesecake, more specifically, artisan charcuterie, and curated catering experiences…from intimate gatherings to weddings, workshops, and corporate events. What started as a passion project during the height of the pandemic has grown into a full-scale brand with a storefront in Lancaster, PA, a mobile charcuterie and salad bar, and a heart for creating meaningful moments.

Before this, I spent years working in education and state government, and I’ve always been active as a volunteer…especially in schools and youth sports. I’m also a proud wife and mom to six children, ranging in age from 4 to 25. Building a business while raising a family has been a journey, but every challenge and creative spark has led to what we’ve built today.

What makes our work special is that it’s not just about food, it’s about connection. Every graze table, mini cheesecake, or lunch setup is an opportunity to bring people joy. We’re currently expanding our catering services and launching more wholesale offerings so more people across the region can experience what we do. Collaborating with other local businesses is also something we’re deeply passionate about. For example, we partnered with Nikki’s Custard to create the perfect cookie to pair with their delicious custard…a sweet reflection of what community means to us.

We’ve also recently introduced charcuterie workshops and have so much more in the works, so stay tuned!

At the core of everything I do is creativity, purpose, and people. Whether I’m designing a new product or working hands-on at an event, I pour heart into every detail. Because for me, this isn’t just a business…it’s a reflection of who I am and the life we’re building.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful qualities in my journey have been vision, adaptability, and perseverance.

Vision has always come naturally to me…I’m a big-picture thinker. I can see the idea before it’s even fully formed, and that’s what has fueled my creativity and purpose. For those just starting out: give yourself space to dream. Keep a notebook or notes app handy, and write everything down and organized, no matter how far-fetched it feels. That’s how ideas begin to take shape.

Adaptability was key, especially starting a business during the pandemic while juggling motherhood, a career and major life changes. Things won’t always go as planned, and that’s okay. Be open to pivoting, learning as you go, and not having all the answers right away. The best advice I can give is to stay flexible and keep moving forward…even when it’s messy.

Perseverance has carried me through the hardest moments. Building a business while raising kids, being a wife and living life in general, hasn’t been easy, but consistency and grit matter more than perfection. My advice? Don’t wait for everything to be perfectly lined up. Take the first step, then the next. Growth comes from showing up, again and again.

Everyone’s path is different, but when you lead with heart, stay willing to learn, and keep showing up…you’ll get where you’re meant to go.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Over the past 12 months, my biggest area of growth has been learning to let go of perfection and trust the process…both personally and professionally. As a creative and a co-owner of a growing business, I used to put so much pressure on myself to get everything just right… every detail, every launch, every event. But I’ve learned that with growth comes a little chaos, and that done is often better than perfect.

Co-owning a business with my sister-in-law, Kelly, has taught me so much about collaboration and communication. We both bring strong ideas and different strengths to the table, so learning how to lean into that and balance each other’s roles has helped our business thrive. It’s shown me the value of trust…knowing when to let go of control, focus on what you do best, and also take breaks and schedule time outside of business to protect the relationship.

I’ve also grown as a mom running a small business. I’ve realized I can’t do it all…and I’m not supposed to. Trusting others to help carry the vision has created space for me to focus on the bigger picture and continue building what we started.

Most importantly, I’ve learned to give myself grace. Growth doesn’t always come in big wins…it often looks like quiet progress, daily discipline, and showing up consistently, even when things feel overwhelming.
