We were lucky to catch up with Sasha Del Valle recently and have shared our conversation below.
Sasha , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
I learned how to turn being the only person that looks like me in the room into power. If you have the skill, talent and drive to win you can accomplish anything no matter how you look.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
Hello, my name is Sasha Del Valle, I’m an Actress, Producer and Publisher. I have three films coming out this year that I’m in. I was able to travel to Belize,Texas and Denver to work on these projects, one will be a theatrical release while the other two films will be airing on BET+. I have a few shows coming out this year as well that I show ran & produced on the ForUsByUs Network. Im also getting ready to release my fourth children’s book with Mysonne titled “Raising Kings” after such huge success with his first book called “I Know My Rights”. My latest project that Im really looking forward to is building my new Network called “The Latin Channel”.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The most important rule is to never give up! If you give up you take yourself out the game. With that being said the next thing is to pin point what you’re most interested in, skills or your passion. After that you have to do a lot of research in what you’re trying to build and be consistent with building the brand that you want to create. Next you have to align yourself with like minded individuals who are in the spaces you want to be in and learn from them and if you’re skilled enough you can partner up with people like this.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed with work/tackling my goals, I like to stop and reassess the situation so that I can prioritize whats most important. In order to make things less stressful for myself, I focus on what I can work on now and the things of more importance and or that have deadlines. You have to pace yourself if not you can burn yourself out. In business you also want to study your competitors and see whats working and whats not and see if you can be the person/company to fill that void in the industry that you’re in.
