We recently connected with Sasha Welter and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sasha, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
For me, optimism stems from a few factors. I have learned to bounce back from setbacks and challenges, which has taught me that difficulties are temporary and can be overcome.
Celebrating my accomplishments, no matter how small, has helped me develop a sense of confidence.
Instead of getting bogged down by problems, I try to focus on finding solutions, which helps me stay positive and motivated.
Reflecting on the things I’m grateful for each day has helped me cultivate a more optimistic outlook.
By combining these factors, I’m able to maintain a positive and optimistic attitude, even in the face of challenges.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi, my name is Sasha Welter. I have been writing stories for years. I started writing science fiction while in high school. I shifted to psychological thrillers a few years ago.
My first thriller, Revenge, was my first published book, after completing my science fiction trilogy. I was letting a coworker read a few chapters, and she kept asking for new installments. I realized that my spin on the story was having an impact. I finally told myself, I have to get my story out to the masses.
Each book I have written has main characters that really gets emotional responses from the reader. Readers have reached out to me expressing how the plots were eerily realistic and the characters are relatable.
I tend to take a while to write my stories, so I remember my editor was going through Revenge, and she told me, to start the next book. I didn’t even have a story, but if my editor tells me to crank out another one, I will. Wicked Sisters was completed in under a year. Readers asked when the next book would be released. Again, I had no story. I was sitting in my daughter’s school carpool line, and Last Chance was born.
Currently, I’m working on two novels, at the same time. Crazy, I know. I’m planning on publishing Intrusive Thoughts and Murder on the Mystery Trip in 2025.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Overcoming fear- I had this idea in my head and going through the process of making my dream a reality took time. I had to stay positive and overcome any challenges that could hamper me. In order to get past any fear, I really had to confront it.
Research- I love the feeling of being on a quest for knowledge, searching for answers, and uncovering new insights. I had to do a lot of research for my stories. When I get the answers to my questions, it contributes greatly to alleviating any uncertainty I may have.
Passion- I really love what I create. You have to enjoy what you are doing in order to continue the process. I put a lot of time into my books and there is a lot of me in those pages.
I would say try new things and explore different activities. Step out of your comfort zone and take calculated risks. Be patient with yourself, and don’t give up.
Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I take a step back, I have to take a moment and evaluate the situation.
I tend to break the problem into smaller more manageable tasks. It helps to make a plan of action, and give myself a deadline.
I would advise others to manage their time, set boundaries, and recognize their limits.
