Meet Sasi Kondru

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sasi Kondru a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sasi, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I had volunteered with several other organizations in middle school, having over 300 service hours in one. I was inspired by volunteering with other organizations to create my own student-led nonprofit. By starting my own nonprofit in high school, I wanted to create an organization where students could volunteer, just like I did, and I wanted to make a bigger impact on my community. It took us 6 months and a lot of paperwork to register as a 501(c)(3) organization, and to get started, I asked 3 people to join Aid4Need as officers.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Aid4Need is a nonprofit dedicated to helping the community! The mission of our organization is to provide much-needed support and services to our community in a variety of ways. while also empowering and giving students opportunities to make a difference in their community. This organization is important to the community because it focuses on helping the community in a variety of ways. We try to do a wide variety of activities to get youth interested in volunteering. Additionally, we try to help the community in a lot of ways, such as by raising money to help build a new police station or making cards for nurses, which provides support and services to our community! We have over 1200 members from across the country and in Canada! Additionally, we have around 20 executive officers, 20 social media ambassadors, and around 40-50 chapter officers.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three skills that were most impactful were communication, compassion, and collaboration! Communicating with members and officers is crucial, and I was able to develop good communication skills from working on Aid4Need, which has helped me make better posts and word messages sent to members and officers better! Compassion has really helped me connect with the activities and has further fueled my passion for helping my community! Collaboration is key- working with members, officers, and organizations has helped me gain new perspectives and make our activities even better!

And as for advice- keep working on what you’re doing! Look for ways to improve and do your best to improve! This helped me gain a better grip on these skills over time!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We’d love to collaborate with other student-led organizations! We prefer working with organizations that are around the same size as us, but we’d love to work with any sort of student-led organization as long as they’re willing to put in the effort! We mainly are looking for collabs in webinars/workshops (we’ve done 4 before). Please contact us at aid4need@gmail.com if you’re interested!
