Meet Saurabh Sharma

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Saurabh Sharma. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

SAURABH, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Developing confidence and self-esteem has been a gradual process shaped by my life experiences. Moving from India to London, and now to the United States, challenged me to adapt to new cultures and environments. Every transition taught me the importance of resilience and staying open to new opportunities.

My professional journey also played a pivotal role. From working as a professional to starting my podcast, The Experience Land, I’ve had the chance to engage with incredible individuals and share their inspiring stories. The process of creating meaningful content, connecting with diverse audiences, and stepping outside my comfort zone helped me trust my abilities more.

Additionally, I believe confidence stems from preparation and continuous learning. Whether it’s launching a podcast or pursuing a new opportunity, I strive to show up with authenticity and curiosity. Surrounding myself with supportive people and focusing on personal growth have also been instrumental in boosting my self-esteem.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I’m Saurabh Sharma, the creator and host of The Experience Land, a podcast dedicated to uncovering the extraordinary experiences of ordinary people. My life journey has been one of exploration and connection, taking me from Delhi, India, to London, and now to the United States. Along the way, I’ve traveled to over 11 countries and explored almost every part of India, experiences that have profoundly shaped my perspective on culture and storytelling.

Growing up in Delhi, I was immersed in India’s vibrant diversity—a blend of traditions, languages, and values that taught me the importance of empathy and community. Traveling across India gave me a deep appreciation for its rich cultural tapestry, while my time in London introduced me to global perspectives and the incredible stories that unite us as humans.

Through The Experience Land, I aim to celebrate these stories. One of the most inspiring journeys I’ve shared is that of a performer whose dedication and talent took them from humble beginnings to performing at the White House. Another remarkable story features a library director who rose from being a custodian to leading an institution that serves as a cornerstone for their community. These narratives highlight the extraordinary potential of passion, perseverance, and hard work.

Traveling and meeting people from all walks of life have taught me that everyone has a unique story worth sharing. If you’re someone who values authentic narratives and meaningful conversations, I’d love for you to join me on this journey. Stay connected on LinkedIn and other platforms—there are countless inspiring stories still to uncover and celebrate!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are adaptability, curiosity, and resilience.

Adaptability:
Moving from India to London and then to the United States required me to adapt to new cultures, environments, and ways of thinking. Being open to change and learning from each experience helped me thrive in unfamiliar situations.
Advice: Start by stepping out of your comfort zone, even in small ways. Travel, meet new people, or take on projects that challenge you. Each experience will make you more flexible and open to growth.

Curiosity:
A genuine curiosity about people and their stories is the foundation of my podcast, The Experience Land. It’s what drives me to ask deeper questions and seek meaningful connections.
Advice: Cultivate curiosity by reading widely, listening actively, and exploring interests outside your immediate field. The more you learn, the more prepared you’ll be to connect ideas and seize opportunities.

Resilience:
Every journey has its setbacks, and resilience has been key to navigating mine. From professional challenges to adjusting to new countries, staying focused and persevering through tough times has made all the difference.
Advice: Build resilience by reflecting on past challenges and how you overcame them. Practice mindfulness, set realistic goals, and surround yourself with a supportive community that encourages you to keep going.

For those starting their journey, my advice is to embrace learning and remain patient with yourself. Growth takes time, but with the right mindset and willingness to evolve, you’ll be amazed at what you can achieve. Each step, no matter how small, contributes to your larger story.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was their unwavering support, especially during my marriage. Coming from a very traditional society, where cultural expectations can be strict, marrying someone from a different background and country was a big step. My wife is American, and our relationship brought together two distinct cultures.

Despite the challenges, my parents didn’t just accept my decision—they fully embraced it. They took on the responsibility of arranging every detail of our wedding, which was a grand affair with over 500 guests. Indian weddings are known for being large and elaborate, and my parents ensured that everything was perfect, from the rituals to the celebrations. Their involvement went far beyond just being present—they worked tirelessly to make our day special, reflecting the love and support they had for both of us.

This support gave me the confidence to navigate the complexities of blending two cultures while staying true to myself. It showed me the true meaning of family and unconditional love—values I continue to carry with me.

For anyone facing a similar situation, my advice is to cherish the support of your loved ones. When you have their backing, you can face any challenge with strength, and the journey becomes much more rewarding. Their love and acceptance create a foundation that allows you to move forward with confidence and joy.
