Meet Savannah Larson

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Savannah Larson a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
Both my parents are hard workers, and I was raised to work hard as well. They instilled in me the belief that as a family we all have to work together to make things go smoothly and accomplish tasks around the house. We all lived in the same house and we all need to contribute our part. My dad has always worked hard to support his family and maintained a high level of professionalism in his company, Crown Molding Now. He makes his own schedule but was always up very early to accomplish as much as possible on the days he worked. My mother likewise always handled the admin and paperwork on time and kept a close eye on our finances. Both their examples taught me to have a high level of professionalism and I was always able to ask their advice when it came to handling issues within my own business.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Frames for Mirrors is a company specializing in installation of high quality, custom sized frames for existing, mounted mirrors and TVs. We offer over 50 styles and colors of frames to choose from and our supplier keeps up to date with any emerging trends. We assist our customers through the whole process, from color and style suggestions based on each room, to measuring, ordering, and installation.

Almost every new home built in America comes with standard, builder-grade mirrors either glued to the wall or hung with clips. Recent trends have shown removing these unsightly mirrors and replacing them with more decorative, framed mirrors of different sizes and shapes. We offer another solution that doesn’t require any mirror removal, which can be dangerous if the mirror is large and the homeowner is doing it themselves. It can also be time-consuming and expensive, if they have to factor in repairing the wall left behind. Then sourcing a new mirror is another added expense and if shipped, could come broken if not packed properly.

Framing the existing mirror is a great solution that prevents your mirror from going to the landfill, requires no removal of your existing mirror, and you get to choose from our extensive selection of modern, up-to-date frame styles that will still look good for years to come.

This year, we are excited to promote our TV framing as any of our frames can be used on mounted flatscreen TVs. With the rise in popularity of the Samsung Frame TV, we felt you don’t need to go out and buy a new TV just to frame it.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Creativity, perseverance and curiosity

1. Creativity will help you stand out from the crowd when you’re thinking of a niche business idea, a new way to drive sales, and solutions to complex issues that come up. Especially in the age of AI powered tools, nurturing your human creativity will become more and more important.

2. Perseverance will prevent you from giving up on the difficult days. Remember your goal in starting this business. Is it to gain financial or location independence? To make your own schedule? To build and grown a business that changes the way we live? Keep your eye on the prize, because once you achieve it, the payoff is priceless. Don’t give up just because it’s difficult or new to you.

3. One thing I wish I had done earlier in my career is educate myself in a more organized way when it comes to different aspects of business ownership. There is so much to learn and so many resources. Take the time to invest in yourself and figure out what you can do yourself, and what you prefer to hire out. This isn’t something you can do totally on your own, you will need advice here and there, and hiring people to take care of certain tasks may be worth it in the end. Be curious, ask questions, and keep learning.

How would you describe your ideal client?
Our ideal client is someone who is ready to make one small change in their space that will give it a big impact. What we hear our clients saying the most is that having their mirrors or TV framed “really completes the look” and “makes it feel finished”. We couldn’t describe it better ourselves. Once you see your mirrors framed, you’ll always notice how bare unframed mirrors are and you’ll always want to give any bathroom you own that finishing touch. Giving your mirror a finished look, whether you decide to frame it or replace it, is an essential step in a bathroom’s renovation. Just as we know updating the faucets, hardware and accessories can transform a space, so too can professionally framed mirrors.
