Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sawyer Jeppson Pearce. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sawyer , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Like thousands of people, I struggled with body image and body dysmorphia throughout my life. This was due to societal pressures convincing me I had to look a certain way, and the prevalence of unhealthy, obesity-causing foods that made being healthy nearly impossible. I eventually realized that what matters more than any beauty standard, is preserving your health and wellness. I channeled my frustration into creating something that could make a real difference—my app, Health Inspecta. This app empowers people to make informed decisions about the food they consume, revealing the truth behind misleading labels and exposing harmful ingredients. By doing so, it tackles the root causes of the very issues that have impacted my mental health.
Creating Health Inspecta was a professional endeavor and a deeply personal one. It allowed me to take control of a situation that felt overwhelming, transforming my anger and frustration into something productive and meaningful. This process has been incredibly empowering, helping me reclaim my self-esteem by actively working against the forces that contribute to body image struggles for so many, including myself.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m a third-year law student with a background as a personal trainer and weight management specialist. My brother and CEO of Health Inspecta is also a student in college, personal trainer, and businessman. My passion for health and wellness, combined with my legal training, inspired me to join him in creating Health Inspecta—an app that grades the quality and safety of food products from A to F. The app goes beyond just grading; it highlights harmful ingredients, empowering users to make informed choices about their health.
What excites me most about Health Inspecta is its potential to transform how people interact with food labels. It offers explanations for each grade and suggests healthier alternatives, making it a comprehensive tool for anyone looking to improve their diet and well-being.
As we continue developing Health Inspecta, my focus is on expanding its capabilities and advocating for greater transparency and accountability in the food industry. My ultimate goal is to ensure that everyone has access to the information they need to make healthier, more empowered choices.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three key qualities and skills have been most impactful in my journey: passion for justice, resilience, and the ability to think critically.
1. Passion for Justice: From a young age, I’ve had a strong sense of justice and a desire to make the world a better place. Whether it was raising awareness about environmental issues or advocating for healthier food options, this passion has driven me to take action and create change. My advice for those early in their journey is to identify what truly matters to you and let that passion guide your decisions. When you care deeply about something, it gives you the motivation and drive to push through challenges.
2. Resilience: The road to creating Health Inspecta and pursuing a legal career has been filled with obstacles, from technical challenges to navigating the complexities of law school. Resilience has been crucial in overcoming these hurdles. For anyone starting out, it’s important to understand that setbacks are inevitable, but they’re also opportunities to learn and grow. Developing resilience means staying focused on your goals, even when things get tough, and learning to adapt to new circumstances.
3. Critical Thinking: Both in law and in developing an app that challenges the status quo of food labeling, critical thinking has been essential. It’s not just about solving problems; it’s about asking the right questions and looking at issues from multiple angles. To develop this skill, I recommend constantly challenging your own assumptions and seeking out diverse perspectives. The more you engage with different ideas, the sharper your critical thinking will become.
For those early in their journey, I’d suggest focusing on these three areas: find your passion, build resilience, and sharpen your critical thinking. These qualities will not only help you navigate challenges but also empower you to make a meaningful impact in whatever field you choose.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
The ideal user of Health Inspecta is someone who is deeply health-conscious and committed to enhancing their quality of life. They value transparency and are eager to make informed decisions about the food they consume and the products they use. They prioritize their well-being and appreciate the ability to see beyond labels, making thoughtful decisions that align with their health goals and values. Working with clients who embody these characteristics is especially rewarding because they are fully engaged in their health journey and view Health Inspecta as an essential partner in their pursuit of a healthier, more empowered life.
