Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sean Anthony Winn. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Sean Anthony, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
In the grand scheme of things, my resilience comes from my parents. They showed me how to push forward during moments when I didn’t think I could. Even though they can’t fully relate to me as an artist, our differences in fields, hobbies, and passions never mattered, because at the core, we are all human, navigating life for the first time together. From a young age, I learned that there will always be people who oppose you or your existence, but choosing to move to the rhythm of your own drum builds a quiet, lasting resilience over time. For that, I’m deeply grateful.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As a fine artist, my work interrogates ideas of selfhood, mental health, and the ways we understand our relationships with others through those closest to us. My paintings exist in a space that is both realistic and ethereal, communicating shifting modes of self-expression that move through anxiety, depression, and identity. Through my gaze toward my peers, and the metaphysical connections I share with them. I translate emotional states into visual form. Influenced by pop culture, mental health advocacy, and extraterrestrial motifs, my work contrasts the absolute with the surreal and the deliberately mundane, using the human figure to amplify emotions once considered taboo.
What makes the work meaningful to me is its ability to resonate across different walks of life. It isn’t tied to a specific gender, age, or identity, but instead speaks to anyone who has endured experiences that felt overwhelming, unreal, or impossible to articulate. That sense of recognition and connection reflected back through audience feedback is something I’m deeply proud of.
Looking ahead, I have plans for new work that will be publicly presented in the fall. For now, I’ll leave it at that.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my education and career, I would say that going to art school is never a bad decision. It gave me invaluable tools to develop my practice, refine my artistic voice, and receive meaningful guidance on the kind of artist I wanted to become, and how to thoughtfully market that work. If it feels right, pursue it, but don’t say yes to everything. Doing so can lead you further away from where you’re ultimately trying to go.
Along the way, I’ve learned three essential principles: remain humble regardless of achievements or accolades; take craftsmanship seriously in order to protect the integrity and longevity of the work; and, no matter the industry you’re in, engage with the community around you and build genuine relationships.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I’ve collaborated with brands in the past, and I genuinely love the process. In 2022, I partnered with True Religion for a Pride Month artist shirt, with all proceeds benefiting LGBTQ+ nonprofit organizations. I’m always open to future collaborations, especially with brands that meaningfully support art, creativity, and cultural progress.
