Meet Sean Breed

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sean Breed. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sean below.

Sean , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

I believe that confidence is developed internally. Parents, friends, teachers, etc can give you a head start but after that it has to be developed and worked on constantly but it’s fleeting. If you don’t build it on a solid foundation it can crumble as soon as the strong winds of life hits it. I came from the bottom so if all else fails, i would be back at a point which is familiar to me plus whatever my endeavors are, i master it. Most importantly i rely on my spiritual power to help with confidence and self esteem. I know i’m worthy. When i first got into Rap, there was no doubt that i knew i had a special way with words and my peers solidified it. All i did was write. Thru the gunshots, murders, Crack addicts and everything else that surrounded me in the New Brighton Housing projects on Staten Island…..I escaped with the words i put on paper. Everything i wanted to achieve i have. There is no special recipe other than the confidence and self esteem that you keep building for yourself even when trials and tribulations come. I literally saw the outcome. I saw the final results before it was a reality and i didn’t stop until it became that.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

When social media became the dominant way to express whatever talents you had, i followed suit. I started putting my music and music videos out on all the major platforms. In between doing that, i would do commentary videos with me talking about various things in life. Relationships, family, business, God, etc. I would just voice my opinion on various topics with Honestly and transparency. I noticed that people took to it in a big way. So much so that i became more noticeable for that than my music. I’ve done a lot in music as a signed artist. I’ve toured, traveled abroad, radio, magazines, etc but i felt that i was missing my real purpose in life. I felt that i wasn’t feeding humanity in the way that i was designed to. I wasn’t serving in the way that God intended so when my commentary videos started to take off and people told me how it helps and how it transformed their life and for some prevented suicide, i knew my purpose became clear. Throughout that journey i was honing my passion for acting by joining acting schools, theatre groups and intensive acting programs. I started booking jobs for film, television and theater. Some of the shows are Law & Order (NBC), Flabush Misdemeanors (Showtime), Raising Kanan (Starz), etc. I’m also a part of a stage play and film called “HOOD BOOK” I’m really excited about. I also have a “LOVE” clothing and accessories brand I’m really excited about.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

They say hindsight is 20/20 so when I’m reflecting on my life i now realize that all of the hardships, hurdles, victories, mishaps were a huge gumbo pot that shaped my life For what I need now for not only my purpose but for my successes. It definitely gave me thick skin Which I truly believe is needed in any industry, you are trying to dominate. There will never be only applause. If you are only expecting that then expect a huge letdown because it will never be all good. No, should you want all good because it will not force growth. In my case, I never wanted to be in anything that I did so I pushed myself. My environment growing up, can either break you or make you and I chose the latter. I would tell people that they need to differentiate between a hobby or a passion. A hobby will easily fall by the wayside overtime. Life will get in the way, and your hobbies will be put on hold. When you have a passion, nothing gets in away, this is something that you must do or you are not whole. So first separate your hobbies from your passion your passion is the first thing you think about when you wake up in the last thing you think about going to sleep. You really don’t have to give too much advice on what to do with passion because you will find out everything you need to know and pursue it with a passion.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

God. There are no guarantees except for God. You can build and develop all the essential skills you want all the qualities you need all the knowledge in the world, but if it’s still governed by another person, then that other person has a choice to overlook you for whatever reason. So when I succeeded in anything, I know that it could’ve went the other way, I know that even though I am super qualified, there are others that are just as qualified or more, but I was chosen. That’s God‘s plan not anyone else’s.
