Meet Seb Brown

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Seb Brown. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Seb, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.

My optimism comes from my vision, It’s like seeing it, knowing it, and then executing it, and having patience as I’m walking the journey, I try to stay open as well as I enjoy the journey because that’s where the learning happens. Things and situations show up sometimes that I may not be ready for; for instance, let’s say you go on a walk and your goal on this walk is to get 4 miles in, 2 miles walking there and 2 miles back home but, on your way home, things show up. You may see a beautiful butterfly and stop to admire the colors, or someone may walk up beside you and start a conversation and they might say something you needed to hear, or you may step in some dog poop, or it may even start to rain and you get soaked, or you may stop your walk to help someone. Do any of these stop your goal of getting back home? To sum it up, if you continue walking, you will eventually get home. That’s how I see my vision. In fact, I wouldn’t event call it being optimistic, it’s simply just knowing my intention and vision and keep walking towards it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Although I’m creative in different areas, my first love is music. I like expressing myself through song; hoping those songs and lyrics will help someone going through adversities. Music has the power to inspire, change someone’s mood or even may help them heal, I also enjoy the creative process from the concept of the song, to the musical arrangement, to producing the song and eventually performing it in a live setting. I also like to help and appreciate other artists so I created Theria Entertainment to provide a platform for artists of all genres. That’s where the Theria Radio app comes into play. Theria Radio spotlights only indie music, poetry, spoken word and podcasts that are designed to be thought-provoking and inspiring. To show appreciation for the other creative disciplines that is where the Theria Magazine comes into play, showcasing the arts and stories of creatives in art, music, photography and more. People always ask what the name Theria means; Theria means freedom and liberation; what makes it special to me is that Theria is part of my mother’s name; her name is so unique that I knew that I would use it for something lovely.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Well, number one is being a good listener and be willing to learn, life and people are always teaching us something at all times.

Secondly, don’t place expectations on some things, meaning that I can only do my part and can’t control the outcome. Plus, you shouldn’t bring on unneeded stress. Remember that it’s ok to take breaks, taking the time to unwind, to clear the mind and to refocus on why you’re doing what you’re doing because it’s easy to get lost in the noise, That can leading to burnout.

Third is patience, Everything in life takes time. I find that many of us get in the way, wanting things to happen fast and skip the process. If I planted a tomato plant, I will not get those tomatoes tomorrow; my job is to plant the seed, water it, nurture it and wait patiently for nature to do its part.

Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?

I like to read books on many subjects; mostly I love books on spiritual growth, one of my favorite authors is Wayne Dyer whom I discovered at a time when i felt lost. The book is titled The Power of Intention, his words basically encourage taking responsibility for your feelings and reactions. One of the passages that stuck with me is “Abundance is not something we acquire. it is something we tune into”, reading this line took me deep into thought of what Abundance is, reading this line also put me in a space to shut up and just observe my inner space and my outer space, realizing I had a one dimensional way of thinking of what Abundance is; now I have so much appreciation for my creativity and for who I am, those I call my friends, and life itself, it’s really a lovely feeling.
