We recently connected with Sebo Hernandez and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Sebo, thank you for being such a positive, uplifting person. We’ve noticed that so many of the successful folks we’ve had the good fortune of connecting with have high levels of optimism and so we’d love to hear about your optimism and where you think it comes from.
The thing about me is that I am overly optimistic, even when I’m in the worst situations I know everything will be ok. I have this idea I created that with all the knowledge I have accumulated throughout my whole life, there should be no obstacle I can’t overcome. Where does this optimism come from? To be honest I’m not quite sure. Ever since I was a child I remember my parents telling me to never give up and always try my hardest. Even in the most depressing times, I’ve always found a way to smile. As corny as it is, I think about everything superhero’s go through such as Spider-Man. Even in his darkest and roughest times he always found a way to persevere. Even though he’s a made-up character it still pushes me to always find the good in bad situations.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
With everything there is to do nowadays, it’s so hard to not want to accomplish it all. I’m mainly known as a Photographer based out of Austin Texas. Becoming a photographer wasn’t part of the plan at first, I just wanted to be a YouTuber as a kid. When I bought my first camera I had no idea how to operate it. I then took a class on photography and found it quite boring to the point where I sold my camera. It wasn’t until halfway through covid that I spontaneously bought another camera and started making moves. I started working with the Car Community and then the local music scene. From working with local Rap shows such as “The Smok—Out” to working “SXSW” and with artists such as Nick Canon, Armani White, etc. I still got a long way to go, but at the moment I’ve been Head Photographer for “Only Fam Empire” and “Legendary Hustler Family.”
Besides being a photographer I also started producing music along the way. I’ve always been a music fanatic but I started writing music throughout high school and making songs that will stay in the vault forever. At first, I just tried to be a vocal engineer because I had no idea where to even begin with making my own beats. During covid, I purchased my first DAW and started slowly working on beats. I’ve made a couple of songs that are released on all platforms and I started fully producing my own music. From BoomBap rap to indies to scoring music, I plan on going through every style of musical art.
I can’t forget to mention my podcast “UNCENSORED” that I co-host with my best friend. An idea that started in 2017 that finally established in 2023, from comedy to serious debates. A podcast for everyone to enjoy. The podcast is a hobby for us to look back on in the future but also for people to find comfort and relatability.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My advice for everyone is to always stay optimistic and have patience. Everything takes time and there’s is no telling when your dreams will come true. A lot of great artists didn’t become popular until their late twenties to the forties. Kanye was only 26 when he made “The College Dropout” and Elon Muck didn’t become successful with his career till he was 27. Da Vinci was 41 years when he painted “The Mona Lisa” so this should show you that no matter what never stop chasing your dream.
